My lease at Diamonte was set to expire March 5th. I already knew I did not want to stay at the apartments for various reasons, but I needed one more month to secure my new living situation. I decided to go month to month for one more month and on March 1st I paid the higher month fee and turned in my 30 day notice. All I got in return was a long check list on things I had to do to get back my security deposit. At this time, I assumed that because I had paid for one more month, my new check out date would be April 5th.

On April 4th I called Diamonte to see if I could schedule someone to walk around the apartment with me on April 5th and Darren informed me that the office closed at 6pm, but it was unnecessary to schedule a time to have someone walk the premises with me. I got home from work at 6pm, changed clothes, and went to meet some friends for dinner. When I got home at 8pm there was a notice from an attorney that I was in violation of a contract and owed the complex $516 for not checking out. I was very confused, but figured there must be some type of mistake.

On April 5th I worked all day starting at 5am to move out of the apartment and leave it clean. By the time I went to the office I was tired emotionally and physically. I started the conversation very civilly allowing that there might have been some sort of misunderstanding between everyone involved. The office woman, (named, I believe, Sherry) was very rude and proceeded to tell me that my check out date was the 7th because I turned in my 30 day notice on the 6th and that I owed for a week of rent plus a $56 late fee more not paying the weekly rent on time. I did not even know I owed a week! If it was ok for me to move out on the 5th the previous month, my was it not ok this month' And I did not turn in my 30 day notice on the 6th, but on the 1st. She was unmovable, unsympathetic, and told me that she couldn't do a walk around, only maintenance could do that Monday through Thursday! At that point I was near tears and was willing to pay to just be done with them.

On Monday I came with a cashiers check and had to wait forever for them to get their act together. I did not even care to look over the apartment with anyone because I knew they would just find a way to keep my security deposit. As a last effort I asked if they wanted my forwarding address and she kept insisting that she had it already even though I knew they couldn't have because I did not even have it until that day! They might as well have straight out told me that they had no intentions of refunding my security deposit.

Please, save yourself some stress and skip these apartments. I've stayed in lots of bad college apartments but this was by far my worse experience.

I moved from there in Oct 2007, I hated this place. I lived there from 2006-2007. While there, in the first 3 months my car was broken into 3 times (same week). I had to replace the windshield as well as the side windows (twice). The pipes burst in my walk in closet. They had fans going for 3 days to dry the carpet! I complained of mold so many times, I was having breathing problems. When I moved out, my downstairs neighbor moved at the same time. She had so much mold in her apt, which they never fixed. They did try to paint over it, but that did not work. Nothing had worked since I had got there, and maintenence was useless. Never mind the security, there was none. I left without paying the last month rent and let the keep the deposit. I then wrote a letter with pictures of the mold. I now see on my credit report they sent it to collections. I never received anything from them and I left my forwarding address!
