Ok for Starter Apartment if.....

Hidden Village is ok for a starter (new to AZ resident or student) but not really family friendly. You will never see children playing, there is really no area for them. The nearest park is almost 2 miles away. My lease was 2007 through early 2009. The first year it was ok but then my car was broken into. Police only did an incident over the phone, but then the response from the on site manager was very distant, non compassionate, and basically stated that's life and things happen. Then in Nov/Dec 2008 a mother was attacked with her nine month old in her arms (robbery). Management did nothing including not informing other residents. Management will never inform you of the crime I suppose like most properties, so I encourage you to know your neighbors since that's the only way you will find something out. Another neighbor had her car keyed. If you live on the lower level be prepared for your lawn chairs, bike, or other items to walk off.
The good things are: rodent free, grounds staff is very nice and professional. They keep the property maintained. Management recently painted the property including the pool. It's a very diverse property. Rent is pretty good if you are relocating from an expensive state. Watch the rent specials. We recently found out that everyone pays different rent, not sure why. There is very little noise if any.
