Beautiful complex, great apartments, lousy neighboorhood

Pros:
Beautiful community, well kept, nice landscaping, very clean.
Large pools are well maintained with spas and fitness room.
Management is freindly, courteous, and understanding.
Maintanance is prompt and professional.
Floorplans are well designed with lots of space, tall cielings, fans, large windows with blinds, walk in closet, and a huge master bathtub! : D
Appliances are very new and energy efficent, a joy to use.
Community is quiet, with noise only when a neighbor is moving heavy furnature, even on the bottom floor.
Cons:
The gates for the gated community are often broken, stuck completely or half open.
My large expansive windows all face a parking lot.
Parking is terrible. One covered space per apt, and you can have people towed if they park there. I have about 5 times so far. Minimal non-covered parking for guests and second vehichles. If you arrive after 8pm or so, there is no parking left at all. All parking spots seems smaller than is average, making it very hard to park a non-compact car.
The area is not safe. This is worth repeating. The area is NOT safe. Inside the complex feels somewhat safer, but it is definately in a bad part of town, and island in a sea of ghetto.
The rent is going up, a lot. My lease went up only $25 a month, but the new apts are being rented for more than $200 than I was charged a year and a half ago.
