I had the unpleasant experience during the week of March 6-13 and wow never to stay there or any of the franchises other locations. The front desk clerk is an ex-police officer and little demented. The clientele is mostly truck drivers and Mexican construction workers. I was quoted a price of $175.00 plus tax and change to $180.00 while checking-in just before 7:00 p.m. I was told that the computer changed the price. Checkout is any time before noon sharp or late charge of $40.00. On a weekly stay you have to inform 24 hours prior to your check out your intention of continued stay or check out. Failure to do so results in some penalty. Requires $100.00 security deposit for damages and phone charges in addition to rent. This place has a check out sheet like apartment complex where you're provided with known damages to furniture, T.V, carpet, couch, and kitchen. You are supposed to verify those damages as soon as you move-in. The front desk is open until 7:00 p.m and closed on Sundays. The AC switch was purposely turned to manual so it could not be turned on by turning the knob. I immediately called the front desk. I also noticed a damage (cigarette burns) to the TV which was not identified on the check-in sheet. The toilet paper was not provided and I didn't notice until later in the evening. I wasn't sure whether maintenance would respond on Sunday. On Monday, I informed the front desk and the paper was not provided for 6 hours. Bed and linens are changed on Thursdays. I couldn't wait to checkout on Saturday, March 13. I was at the front desk before noon and was told to wait until the custodian goes and inspects the room and provides a clearance. I patiently witnessed another customer checkout and being charged $9.00 for a missing pillow cover and $2.50 for a missing (6"x6") wash cloth and $15.00 for a lost card key. A little later the custodian showed-up with a wash cloth in his hand. As he was processing my checkout I was informed of a charge for $2.50 for wash cloth because of hole in the wash cloth. I got upset and in angry voice I said, how could I know the hole in the wash cloth since it was replaced only on Thursday and that I had only used it to clean the kitchen sink and area around the stove. I asked him that I would like to speak to his corporate office. He got upset at my resisting the charges. While processing he informed me that the computer has already charged me $40.00 late checkout fee. I exclaimed, "what'". I told him that the delay was on your part since he was waiting for the custodian's reporting and the fact that he was checking out another customer. At this point, I jokingly told him that, "he is an act of his own". He got very upset and told me leave, would not return my deposit (debit card). He threatened to call the police and would tell them I was trespassing since I had officially checked out. I realized that it was a "no-win" situation and decided to stay calm and not converse with him. He calmed down and processed my checkout charging $2.50 for a wash cloth and no penalty for late checkout. After coming out of the front desk I saw two long timers who have been staying there for medical reasons had the same opinion about the property and the front desk clerk.
One other observation, since this property is adjacent to the freeway, staying on higher floor level (I stayed on third floor) has more noise from the freeway traffic than the 1st floor. Noise on 1st floor is shielded by freeway walls. Insulation inside the rooms is also very poor.
My intent is to inform the people planning to stay here. I had actually lost this typed rating once due to a click on another link but went through the pain of re-typing to better inform future customers. I have also contacted the CEO David Vickers in Atlanta. My take, Motel 6 is thousand times better than this place.
