Mixed feelings

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
The grounds are well kept and the complex is mostly quiet. Its right in front of South Mountain so the view is gorgeous. The pool is nice and theres well kept grass throughout the complex. Maintenence man is friendly and considerate. Rent is fairly low compared to other nearby locations. However, they just raised the prices and its becoming less affordable. The insides are very nice since the apartments were built only 6 years ago. Nothing is falling apart and it feels brand new. Covered parking is nice also. Optional garages in case you are a clutter bug. They have a security watch posted every night. VERY nice to have.
The cons: When I first moved in, I was told everything was in order and ready for my use. After heating up the oven to cook pizza, my apartment caught on fire. I found that they failed to completely assemble the thing before I moved in. After approaching the manager kindly about the situation, he yelled at me (literally) and blamed the problem on me.
In another related incident, the dryer would not dry properly. It would take 4-5 attempts to get clothes fully dry. After investigating the problem, it was found that the dryer was not completely assembled either. The vent system hadnt even been attached to the wall!
Theres been some scorpion issues as well. My roomate was stung by one that was hiding in her bed when she went to sleep for the night (resulted in a frantic hospital trip). A couple weeks later, we found 3 on our wall. The complex has since sprayed the entire premisis and we have not seen one since.
Work out center is not 24-7 like the brochure says. Traffic is starting to get a bit worse due to newly developing malls and complexes nearby, but not a problem at the entrance (yet).
Conclusion: I have enjoyed my stay here - the rent is cheap, the grounds are VERY well kept, the view is beautiful, and the pool is very nice. It is located in a safe part of the city. Enough amnemities to keep you happy.
Management needs to address the residents as customers and know when the fault is his own. Theres enough space left on the lot to install more parking spaces, but with what they have, youre only allowed one reserved spot per apt.
Pool is ice cold and hot tub is like bath water. Needs bigger fences around the perimeter.
