cost too high for what you get

I chose the complex originally because it does look pretty from the street - tall white buildings, palm trees, and ooh even a gate (which is never shut!), and at first, besides minor maintenance, my apartment was satisfactory. However, I now have a huge problem with roaches, even though maintenance has sprayed several times. I've poured so many chemicals around the place just to make it liveable, and if I go for a few days without seeing one now, I'm surprised. Its to the point where its disgusting, which is why I'm moving when my lease is up. I also feel the apartment is in poor condition. I?ve had maintenance out to fix several problems, but no longer allow them in the apartment, as I?d rather let the problems go and live with it than deal with the office staff or maintenance people. Crime is a problem - I have witnessed several very loud fights on the grounds which resulted in damage to apartments, and have called the police several times, as these were fights where I was actually ducking down, waiting for bullets to fly. The trashiness of the community in general has increased over the time I?ve lived there - over-flowing dumpsters, abandoned shopping carts and trash everywhere. I would not recommend this complex - the rent is too high for what you?re getting.
