I transferred my lease from a previous AIMCO property to this one because of a new job I got out of state. At my last AIMCO property, I couldn't have been happier. I expected the same when choosing Sands Point. Boy was I wrong! I called four days prior to my arrival to verify that they were ready for us to move in. They said they were and couldn't wait to meet me. Well when I showed up after driving over 2000 miles, they didn't have our apartment ready and began to speak in Spanish regarding the situation assuming my boyfriend and I didn't understand. Little did they know that my boyfriend is fluent in Spanish. They kept saying that our apartment would not be ready and that we didn't tell them the correct date of our move in. How easily they forgot my earlier phone call.

After an hour and a half at the office, we did end up getting our apartment with our assigned parking spot that was located at the other end of another building. When we asked about switching to another parking spot the answer was always "we have to ask the manager." We left over three messages for the manager and never heard back. Finally, by luck we stopped by one time and she WAS ACTUALLY in. Of course the answer was no and we weren't allowed to talk to her face to face.

To make matters worse, we received a notice on our door THREE DAYS AFTER MOVING IN stating that we did not pay rent for the month and would be evicted from our apartment. Hmm, I guess they normally have clients wait in their office one hour past closing time hashing out the correct lease and, oh yeah, paying the first months rent.
The latest mishap was just two days ago when the put a letter on our door telling us one day in advance that our apartment was randomly picked to be inspected by the health and safety department. Not only did we receive less than 24 hours notice before the inspection, the notice was addressed to the past occupant (!) and said that if we were to be home during the search that we should make arrangements to be home between 9am and 5pm. Ah, great just like the cable guy.

I have little good to say about Sands Point. But just to end on a positive note, the maintenance staff is very nice.

The same thing happened to me. I drove 1800 miles to find that the apartment I paid for, they didn't have available. I upgraded and didn't even get a break. Plus, they promised me a microwave for a promotion and I was told I couldn't have it.
