I first saw the place when it was Sands Point and it was horrible. Once I found out that new managment and at the time according to the representatives in the office they were gutting out all the apartments and redoing them and the whole property. I did my research and was pleased with all the other properties owned by Farifiled and expected the same here. After filling out all the docs, getting approved and moving in from day one it was a nightmare. Upon moving in the new carpet was already filthy, they didn't paint any of the walls thru out the apartment except for the kitchen and bathroom cabinets that they had to come and redo on four different occasions. I could tell the walls were not painted because there was still dirt and filth from the last residents. There was an over spray of paint on the windows and the patio doors to which the screen was in the storage closet broken. and My bedroom window didn't even have a screen on it. Where there should have been paitn there was non. And where there shouldn't be any paint there was. The worse was the kitchen. There were dead painted over roashes in the cabinets as well as live ones and just random dead roaches. After four visits to the office, phone calls to the office manjor, ans several service reports turned in to get the work done, still nothing was done. I had to look up the fairfeild office online, get the corporate office and contact the regional manger just to get someone to come and finish painting the cabinets, remove the roches, put my screen on the balcony door and my bedroom window, remove the paint from all the windows and reclean the brand new carpet. Four weeks and every visit to the office i made i was met with attitude and anger when all I wanted them to do was come and make fix the half a$$ed job they did in preparing my apartment. On one vist I was so pissed and i started telling people coming in the office not to move in to the complex, that they offered me another apartment, but when I called thier bluff they never made good on thier promise of another apartment, returned my phone calls and upon another vist the assistant manger who made to promise to me cailmed she didn't know what I was talking about. Anytime after that if i needed something fixed like when the garbage disposal went out, the dishwasher went out, the kitchen sink clooged, the bathroom sink clogged or the sealent on the tub was peeling; I was met with attitde. Like it was my fault they had to actually do thier job.
Some other things to be aware of:
The walls and celings are paper thin. I could hear every move my neighbors made I lucked out that non of my nieghbors had kidsother wise it would have been a nightmare. The pools are often dirty. They use some random water company I've never heard of, that bills you every 48 days. WTF' When you move out they automatically charge what ever you owe on your last water bill from your Security deposit automatically. Be sure to do a walk through with maintence moving in and out because they will try to charge you for everything. During my move out walk through the maintence guy tried to charge me $45 to shampoo the carpet because of the indentations from the furniture and $25 for minimal dust on the ceiling fans. Keep a mat by the door for your shoes because the carpet is so cheap it attract dirt. The mail room keeps getting broken into, and the gate has never worked since it was Sands Point. The low lifes like to toss there beer cans and trash onto the tops of the car ports. Keep track of all your water bill payments, and rent payments.
As it list I lived there for a year, when I went to renew for another 6 mths to give me time to look for another place, because I had enough, I was then told that my current rental insurance had expired two months prior and I needed to get my own before signing new docs. I was pissed again because for two mounths I wasn't covered. Thank God nothing happened. But No problem I went and got covered that day. The next day I get a notice on my door that they were terminating my rental agrement and I had 30 days to get out. I called the office for an explanation because I had always paid my rent on time often early. Per usual I was met with attitude. When I asked why, the guy on the phone said
"We are terminating your lease".
"I know that, but why'".
"To terminate your lease".
"Ok, so there is no reason"'
"No, if we feel we need to terminate then we will".
"Okay, is there a manger I can talk to'"
"No, she is busy, you are going to have to call our lawyer."
And he hung up on me
*whatever you do, do not move in to this apartment complex, better yet the neighborhood*
Below is the letter I had to mail and email to the regional manager before anything got done weeks later:
Montelano Management,
I find it interesting that you guys can inspect my apartment and how I m using it; however you guys neglected to inspect my apartment to see the botched job you call a remodel before I moved in March 1st. It s the 16th of March and still no one has come back like I was told they would to do half on Monday and the rest Tuesday which changed to Thursday (because no one showed up Tuesday) , to fix what should have been done before I moved in, Being that Re-development had a whole month and a half to get the apartment ready. I still haven t received what I paid for and was promised upon signing my rental agreement.
Your lack of customer service and communication when there is a problem appalls me. This very simple matter should have been taken care of weeks ago when I turned in my Check-In form March 2nd, when I was told the problems with my apartment would get taken care of. So far the only way anything attempts to be done is if I come in on the weekends or take off from work to come to the office to talk to someone face to face. I was also promised to be transferred to another apartment , if I wasn t happy, I agreed and that is yet another promise unfulfilled. The sooner the work would have gotten done the sooner this problem would have ended and not drag on almost three weeks with me calling and having to show up. How hard is it to replace a screen for the master bedroom and do a proper paint job that doesn t include painting over roaches and filth and properly cleaning' To make matter even worse I get to stare at trash piled on top of the car ports and over flowing the dumpsters to small for an apartment complex this large out of my living room window and off my balcony.
As a customer and a Tenement I ve done everything I was supposed to do. A letter with pictures of the remodel, or lack thereof will be sent to Fairfield Corporate and I will be in contact with Neighborhood Services Tenant / Landlord Department for Maricopa County with my concerns since no one in your office seems to care, makes false promises and half hearted attempts at trying to rectifying this matter. Please advice.
*I've got more if you resend to this then I'll send them all
