Don't do it

I moved here from Ohio in late 2004 and things started off OK. Rent was reasonable and the property was pretty scenic with a great location...Everything was pretty good for about 6 months and then it was all downhill..
1) the parking got unbearable. Unless you get home in the middle of the day, plan on walking a ways...and if you go out on the weekend forget about finding a spot when you get home...I swear everyone there must have 3 cars or something because alot of vehicles NEVER move...
2) there is a big crime problem...This wasn't an issue when I first moved in but it suddenly got very bad..I would definitely recommend getting a garage to protect your car. Lots of cars were getting broken into that were parked outside, including mine. I also saw vandalism with cars getting keyed, dented, and even spray painted!
3) There are lots of LOUD dogs and people let them live on the porch so they bark all night.
4) There are lots of idiots living here. For some reason, during the last 9 months or so that I lived there, the management started letting all kinds of "undesirables" move in...Suddenly, there was litter everywhere and the complex started smelling bad. Not to mention that somebody was always having an all night party on their porch with music blasting and people yelling. Keep in mind that I'm 28 years old myself so I have quite a bit of tolerance but this was ridiculous. At least it drowned out the barking dogs!
5) The management changed 2 times during my time here and it got worse everytime. The one good thing I can say is that the maintenance people were pretty good. If something broke, they would often replace it as opposed to trying to rig it. The office staff though was completely clueless, bumbling up everything. Nobody ever seemed to know what was going on and nothing ever got done...
6) The last straw was right before I moved out they "offered" me a renewal with a $200 increase per month...Yeah right!
In summary, I'd stay away from Mountainside. Far away.
