I lived at these apartments from May 05 to May 07. I never saw a roach. I never saw a scorpion. I did see/hear domestic disputes and police a lot at first, but those people moved out. My car was broken into, but I blame myself for leaving all my clothes in the backseat from the laundromat. Whoever ripped off my clothes also tried to steal my car, they ripped apart my ignition column and left it in pieces, and also broke my driver's side door keyhole. My motorcycle was never touched though. And I got my car fixed, but it was repeatedly broken into after that, so I just learned to leave nothing in it ever. My neighbors cars windows were always getting broken. My recommendation if you live here is to get an apartment on the east side, I didn't hear traffic except for police sirens once in a while. At night the coyotes get pretty rowdy, but I liked to hear them. The swimming pool was not chemically balanced but the only reason I know that is management changed and I overheard them saying they fixed that. The laundry room can get pretty dirty, but not disgusting. Make sure your key works for that room and the pool gate. Be careful of the dryers, they eat your quarters sometimes. They kept having problems with the water line breaking, and my water was shut off on at least six occasions without notice, in the morning when I had to get ready for work. One time I was in the middle of washing my face when it shut off. They tried to bill me for more money beyond what was in my contract. They would leave notices on my door saying you owe thiry dollars or forty dollars or some other weird amount of money. I didn't pay it and nothing happened. Don't pay them if they charge you for crap beyond what is in your contract, you are not obligated. The bums are always around in this area, but for the most part they're harmless. There is a lot of police activity at the circle k on the corner of mt viw and 7th, so i wouldn't recommend going there at night, i went to the one on peoria and cave creek instead. Theres a good little neighborhood bar over on that corner, too. The bars on 7th street see their fare share of meth and crack heads, and the mexican place next to circle k always has transients sitting in front of it. Oh, and get a po box, there is a constant problem with mail theft. AND, last but not least, NEVER EVER drop your rent check in their building slot. Always pay early/on time in person and get and keep all your receipts. My favorite thing of all about these apartments was the view of the mountains out my bedroom window. Million dollar view, and breathtaking at sunrise. Make sure when you fill out your inspection report, you check to make sure your appliances are clean... my dishwasher had stuff in it and there were cigarette butts and sunflower seed shells everywhere, especially under the oven and fridge. I disinfected everything myself, but you may want to insist on having it professionally cleaned before you move in. (I also got jacked around because they were supposed to replace my carpet, but never did.) I asked my windows to have screen put on them, but that never happened. I went screenless. Oh, there's storage space too on the patio, that was very helpful. Overall, not too horrible.
