An Absolute NIGHTMARE!

I moved into these apartments at the end of June because of the location. I had heard bad stories but needed a place asap. I should have known when I was given an inflated price (during the summer none-the-less) that it was going to be a hassle to live here. They told me the reason for rent was because my apartment was because of the beautiful view of the courtyard and proximity to the pool. I made them drop it by $50/month though. So when I went in to sign my lease, it was a very rushed experience. I didn't get the chance to read over my agreement thoroughly because the lady was telling me I could read it later and she has another appointment scheduled. She did not go over parking guidelines and only mentioned that I would need to place the sticker provided in my back window. So, the first month there was fine, even though I had a bug problem and my dishwasher reaked like something died in it and didn't work due to a broken water connection. It was fixed though after having the repair man come out twice. After living here a month, my gorgeous courtyard view was destroyed and has been under construction. They killed the grass, cut down some greenery, dug up the dirt and are SLOWLY turning it into a picnic area. Then my car was towed. I have a kid and backed into one of the spots (that is open parking after office hours) to unload my groceries. Well, between juggling my kid and groceries, I apparently forgot to close my trunk. The next morning my car was gone. Security had it towed because a. you're not allowed to back in, b. my trunk was open, and c. management reserves the right to tow any vehicle for any reason at anytime without prior warning. I almost lost my job over the whole ordeal. The day after I got my car back (I parked in the front again front in this time) I fell very ill and couldn't even get out of bed. Around noon I went outside because I knew I needed to move my vehicle out of "future resident parking" and my car was towed again. There wasn't a single car parked anywhere up front, so it wasn't like they were busy. No warning. No courtesy check on welfare, they just towed it. This time I went to the office and they told me that it wasn't their problem and too bad. I was disgusted and began to raise my voice in response to their lack of concern for tenant welfare/happiness and they actually called the police. A few days later I received a warning taped to my door not to leave my trash out in the hallway (it wasn't mine it was a neighbors) and to use an ashtray instead of flicking my butts around the landscaping. I DON'T EVEN SMOKE!!! Long story short...Save yourself a headache. Interview the management and ask to read over the lease and rules before you make a decision. The Palisades are the worst rental experience I have ever had!
