wtf is this

i have lived here for about a year and a half now, and am moving waaaay the hell away when my lease is up. beware, this will be a LONG review.

in that time management has changed hands i dont know how many times, it seems like every month or two its a completely new staff.

back in june or july they suddenly switched the main laundry room's units from ones that take quarters, to ones that take special cards without notifying the residents until about 2 weeks later. blue paper with tiny black print is hard to read for older folks!

im not sure what the rest of the complex is like, but on the south side - the very south side - is thunderbird road. the ONLY time your apartment isnt shaking from traffic (literally shaking, especially with those loud ass motorcycles and semi trucks) is between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m.

The residents are fairly quiet, though i can hear every foot step from the people above me. sometimes i think they are bowling with the thuds and cracks i hear. there was this one time i was walking the half mile back to my apartment from the mail boxes (that were broke for some period of time, with no posted date of being fixed) i heard someone beating this ---- out of someone else from inside their apartment. kind of scary.

i live right by the gate on the south side, and when the gates are broke (every few months for months at a time) i seriously question the security that im paying for here.

this place is expensive!! totally not worth what theyre asking - in fact the place im planning on moving to soon is cheaper than these apartments and has washers/dryers in units, are *NEW*, and much more upper-class. paradise foothills is only a small step up from the apartments i lived in in mesa, right by the ghetto.

i have a MAJOR issue with parking, the covered spaces are VERY narrow, so much so that one morning while i was pulling out for work, i managed to snap my passenger side mirror completely off of my car. HOLY ----! and my neighbor who didnt know how to park was standing there right in front of me watching when it happened!

when i moved in the apartments were originally a light tan color, almost white. but they repainted them to dark brown. wtf' they had poor insulation from the heat in the winter to begin with, but painting them a darker color was just stupid. i had to buy an extra fan this year to compensate for someone lack of knowledge about sun rays and dark colors.

just recently - and this is what put the final nail in the coffin - i was notified that i owed $00.44 for a balance on a water, sewer, trash pickup charge. 44 cents! it wasn't even my mistake! i thought monthly payments were supposed to be the same every month, but apparently theyre not here and you need to compensate for incompetant bookkeeping. needless to say i paid the charge in pennies with a letter explaining my disgust and anger with the complex. and the notice i got saying i needed to pay it by the 21st this month was delivered on the 17th, and the actual notice was dated the 15th! terrible!

ontop of all this there is a whole list of things wrong with my apartment:

there is a hole in the floor in the living room, yes a hole, i found it one day as i was walking to the kitchen and nearly felt the carpet rip when i stepped on it. WTF!'

mildew and mold run rampant here. its ------- filthy. its set into the tub so much so that i cant even get it out with bleach! ive had to buy three shower curtains since ive lived here! no way am i wiping the shower down with my towel with that kind of sick ass ---- all over the tile, which by the way has been falling off of the wall since i moved in.

my dishwasher has never worked and looks to be from the early 80s

my garbage disposal has stopped working, i assume it rusted to death

the refrigerator is just strange, the ice cubes it made were full of a cloudy substance and made everything taste like a chemical bath. i shut it off with a full thing of ice one day, a few weeks later i open it and there are no cubes left (') only a couple piles of a strange flaky yellow-orange substance. it also had an overwhelming garlic odor for about 7 months, it seemed to be coming from the magnet strip on the door.

the cabinets are what you would expect to find in a $300/month apartment. they are cheap, no handles, glued together (complete with glue spots), and some dont even shut completely.

the dining area is a little strange, instead of having a ceiling fan in the living room, its right over the table in the dining room (') whats the point of that' the ceiling is like 15 inches lower in that part of the apartment.

i dont use the patio, as there is a large brown circular stain on it (paint') and the one bush i had for some privacy was mysteriously removed one day.

the last thing, and this is probably the worst. i read in another review that someone was having issues with clogged drains. i can top it. i also have this issue, with all the drains here (tub, bathroom sink, kitchen sink) and after spending about 70 bucks on drano i got pissed at the tub drain one day and got a piece of wire and did some fishing. I PULLED OUT A DISPOSABLE RAZOR! what in the world!' it sure as hell wasnt from me, i dont shave in the shower and never have! how did it even get down there!' its not possible to shove a rzor down the drain unless you take the top off and deliberately jam it down in there! i decided to try fishing in the bathroom sink but that only yielded tons of nasty black and grey stuff. i have no idea what it is, but the drain is so back up with it that if you put the stopper down it gooshes out around the metal. its quite sickening, and no matter how much drano you dump down it, it will not unclog.

for some reason the night drop box is on the OUTSIDE of the gate, which cannot be opened without a car to trip the laser (ive tried walking in front of it), or someone opening it from the terminal out front. and when you live on the other side of the gate from it, its extremely annoying.

i could go on, but i will leave it at this. the only good experiences ive had here are:

living on the first floor, not having neighbors for a few months, and largely not being bothered by anyone. although some of the residents are a little creepy.

I couldn't agree with this person. I moved into this place February 2007 and was promised that my apartment would be upgraded so I didn't unpack half of my families boxes for 6 mos and then received a notice saying the upgrades wouldn't be done until after I moved out. It gets better, my drains were just as bad if not worse, my air conditioner broke 3 times in the year and half we were there. Don't worry, APS never got turned on in my name so I have spent the last year and a half fighting to get it in my name and telling the apartments and finally as of a week and a half ago they responded with a note on my door, not even a freaking phone call to let me know I needed to pay them or else I will be sent to court and evicted and also to pay more money to APS in order to stay but if I just left they would cut me a break not to tell any of the other residents. I loved the first set of staff when I moved into this place but everyone after that has been a nightmare! Good Luck to anyone still living here & may God Bless you with better luck. Be sure that if you move her, that you invest in ear plugs for your neighbors, in renters insurance in case the 2nd floor comes down on you, as well as a few notebooks to write down everything you pay and to hold copies of EVERYTHING!!

I think your review has some truth but overall. But I can't imagine you complaining about things that managment is trying to do.... if you had read the notice it said the laundries were changed at two different times, giving everyone the opportunity to get accostumed to the new laundry. BUT I GUESS YOU DIDN'T READ THAT HUH? And in regards to your "problems in the apartment" if I need something fixed in my apartment I notify the office. And usually within 24 to 48 hours the maintenance guys comes and takes care of it immediately. I guess again, you failed to try and have anyone fix your problems because if you did then you wouldn't have anything to complain about. And as for the last ANONYMOUS COMMENTOR, pay your bills and then you wouldn't have anything to complain about!
