I lived at Paradise Lakes for 5.5 months. The only reason I chose it was because they offered a short term lease. What a mistake! The apartments are cheaply built and very noisy. The parking lots (and streets) are full of junky cars, that should have been my first clue. I have been woken up numerous times by fights (at 1:00 to 3:00 AM) in an ajoining apartment. Then there is the police helicopter. I have been woken by the police helicopter at least 5 times, circling my building or one nearby for 1/2 to 1 hour or more. One time was 7:00 AM on a Sunday morning, I left the complex at 8:00 AM and found a police officer checking the cars that were leaving. Nice! In their defense, I must say that I have never felt personaly threatened or unsafe, but the fights and helicopter are certainly unnerving.
They have raised the rent 25% in only 4 months (from base of $610 to $765 for 1 bedroom). They do seem to be having some success in getting rid of the riff-raff, but for me it is too little too late. For only $100 per month more I found a MUCH better place. There are certainly much worse places around, but they have a long way to go before it will be worth the price they are trying to charge.

What's the name of the place you found for $100 more? I'm desparate to move out of my complex in Scottsdale.
