Take them not calling you back to notify you that you were approved as a blessing, suck up the loss of the application fees and look elsewhere... that is what I wish I would have done. My lease is set to expire in June but I am leaving at the end of this month. I have had things that were put on the inspection sheet that to date STILL have not been fixed since I moved in. Good luck if they try to charge me for them though! Sure, they have a good pet policy here, thats the ONLY thing that is worth living here for. The staff dont care about you, when complaints were submitted regarding the kids upstairs sounding like they were playing dance dance revolution from 7am-1030pm ALL DAY EVERY DAY, the office said "well its not quiet time so you just have to learn to live with it, buy ear plugs" That says a lot. When things get stolen, they dont even care to write a report about it, they just say awww well thats too bad... The maintenance staff are slow to respond if they do at all... and by slow I mean, you have to call daily and if your lucky they will show up after maybe about 2 weeks. IF your lucky... The office is not helpful in any manner except to collect the rent, and far be you ONE day late past the due date where they will slam you with anywhere from 50-100 in late fees and 20.00 Paper delivery to your door to notice you for being late, EVEN IF YOU LIVE RIGHT BEHIND THE OFFICE. Dont be fooled by the grounds, because yes, the place outside is beautiful and above average, the staff and the crime, and NO PARKING for guests are not worth the cost of living here. Run, dont walk, RUN away from here. BTW crime, yea, people are not kidding, I was MUGGED here... MUGGED! in my own complex... Keep in mind, Guadalupe is just across the bridge from here, quick 5 minute walk to there... wonder if there is any connection to the crime here and the crime there... hmmmmmmmm yea this is the WORST place I have ever rented from.

I used to live there, I understand. Go to home depot or walmart and buy wood dowlings, cut them to fit in the tracks of your patio doors and windows. Those little latches and metal wing nut things do not work. They jimmy loose. Scotch guard the carpet when you move in and you will have less headache moving out. When you do move, do not let them tell you that you HAVE to pay for professional carpet cleaning. Your contract likely doesn't say that (mine didn't. They try to pressure you and tell you it is the policy, but it is bullcrap. I told them they better check the statutes because it isn't in the contract or law. The law says reasonable wear and tear. The HUD website has the landlord tenent act there to review. I met a young girl whose friend was moving out the same weekend and most are not assertive enough or knowledgable enough to debate it. The poor thing was going to pay for professional cleaning until she saw me steam cleaning and asked me if I got 'special permission.' Rent a steam cleaner and get some grease lightening from the automotive section in walmart. They cannot charge you if you clean it all yourself. Pay particular attention to the checklist included in your lease. They charge $20 to clean the oven, tub, etc. They will nickle and dime you if you leave the apartment dirty. By the way, mine was spotless when I moved out. I videod the apartment and was going to have a nuetral person walk through with me on video to prove it in case I had to fight them in court. They did not charge me for anything. Though I was very verbal with my objections up front. Maintenance will cancel your request without doing the work. I would call and check after a few days and inquire on the work order number. They wouild tell me it was cancelled, so I would request a new work order for the same thing. It tookk three times for three seperate issues. Go to the BRE website and send the investors, management, and maintenance a detailed complaint. (Investors don't like to hear the poor reviews and maintenance of thier investments.)I did that and the next day my ceiling fan and all other issues, except my oven were fixed. YOu might want to send them this website so the investors can read all of the complaints themselves. It is difficult to get good help these days. Few people have integrity or ethics. Good luck. I got my tags stolen, the guy in the space next to mine continued to slam his car door into mine even after I necely asked him not to, and our cars were egged.

Your bike was probably stolen because everyone probably got sick of looking at it chained to the stairs. I would have cut the lock off too if it was something I had to look at everyday.
