When I moved in I did not have a parking spot, so I had to park in the back lot most of the time. In doing so, my car was broken into and my stereo stolen (I also know of other people who had this happen to them as well). The security was a joke (went from one guy on a bike every other night to eventually none at all- not to mention no gates), and there was a major problem with car theft for awhile, with tow trucks coming in and hauling off vehicles illegally. Even my bicycle was stolen, right off of my patio (and it only had one wheel!). Besides all of this, the noise level was intolerable at times. The traffic on both 48th and I10 is loud during peak hours, and almost every morning I woke up to the sound of leafblowers right outside my window (they seemed to be paying the workers to just stand around with those things). As if this wasn't enough, there were also problems inside the apartment. Since I've moved in, the carpet has developed lots of black stains (from who knows what- mold, maybe'). My toilet is constantly backed up because it was never properly fixed, and once our dining room area was entirely soaked with water because of a busted sprinkler. Infestation of roaches and ants was also an initial problem when I moved in. Now, on a positive note, some of these issues have been dealt with recently. Car theft and break-ins have been minimized, a fence was built up on Guadalupe to keep people from walking onto the lot, and they regularly spray outside for bugs now. Unfortunately, to cover all of these expenses, they decided to raise our rent by about a hundred dollars (and within only a year- nice, huh'). So, needless to say, we won't be resigning.
