Boy, I'm amazed at the number of complaints on this website about Presidio. We just moved out after living there for 15 months and we never experienced most of the problems that people are complaining about.
First of all, yes there are scorpions. My son even got stung twice. But in all fairness to Presidio, what can they really do about it' If you know anything about scorpions, you know that pest control doesn't work unless you spray the poison directly on them. They are tough little boogers, and really the only way to get rid of them is to cut off their food supply, which is insects. They also like dry cat food, which we always had on hand. The scorpion problem was not unmanageable, if you have a go-with-the-flow realistic attitude. But yes, we did find quite a few.
But hey, we LIVE IN THE DESERT.
I feel sorry for the people that complain about parking, because we never had a problem parking. We have 2 cars. Our designated spot was never parked in by someone else, and we were always able to find a nearby spot for our second car. Honestly, I expected to occasionally have parking difficulties and was surprised at how we never did.
The only parking imperfection was that some idiot backed their moving truck into the overhang right above our spot and tore it up. Then the monsoon winds later caught it and peeled the top off the roof...right over our designated "covered" spot. There was a shortage of steel so it took them a while to replace it. So for about a month, our covered spot was not really covered. That was annoying, but not Presidio's fault. They let us park in a nearby vacated covered spot while we waited for the repair.
Noise...we purposefully picked a ground level apartment because we have 3 kids and we've lived in enough apartments over the years to know that there is more noise from upstairs than downstairs. And we didn't want to make any more noise than we had to. I'm sure we were sometimes heard by our neighbors, but we almost NEVER heard our neighbors. Maybe we just got lucky. The only noise problem we experienced was the annoying people that would peel down Wakial Loop, full speed, revving their engines like they were drag racing. Our apartment was right off of Wakial Loop, so we had to deal with that. Again, not Presidio's fault.
The office staff was adequate. They were never rude to us and were usually friendly and helpful. I can only think that the people that complain about the office staff must be grumpy complainers that are rude to the office staff. I wouldn't doubt that rudeness begets rudeness. But we were nice and courteous, and that's what we got in return.
Maintenance was excellent. Whenever we put in a request, it got fixed that day or the next. Our dishwasher flooded when we first moved in. They fixed it. We had a few more probems with it throughout the next few months and they finally replaced it with a brand new one. We didn't have to nag them about it, I'm sure they just decided it wasn't cost efficient to keep fixing it.
Our cat scratched up a door frame, but they only charged us for carpet cleaning when we moved out (it came out of our pet deposit).
Overall, great price, nice part of town, clean and attractive grounds, fine parking, and helpful staff. If only our apartment could have been a bit bigger and less scorpions and it might have been perfect.
