I think all apartments are a mixed bag. This is my second equity apartment, and I didn't have anywhere near the poor experiences as some of the other posters here.

I found the landscaping to be very nice, the fountains on the older section are a definite draw and things are kept mostly clean. The crew does seem a little sloppy and some times messes are not cleaned up well, but staff has always responded quickly when I bothered to alert them.

About the office staff - as a group they are fine by me. The manager can be blunt and self-serving, but that is life in the big city...she has her own set of objectives and being a pushover for tenants isn't among them. The assistant manager seems even less friendly and hard to approach. The rental staff have always been very friendly and accomodated any requests I have made. They always wave hello when I pass them by, they interact with my dog, they are always pleasant and helpful when I come in with an issue. I think the "poor staff" thing has been taken a bit far by some posters. I would have to say that if someone starts a fight with this group...they are bound to lose, but we should all know that honey gets more flies than vinegar and just go from there. I have always been nice, and they have always been nice back...seems rather simple.

I didn't get a lemon apartment, they even let me paint it (as long as I paint it back to white). I have seen roaches outside, and had two get inside through the vents...but never have had an infestation. No sign that the roaches are inside, no rumors among the dogwalkers (a vocal bunch) about pest problems. Many dog owners are not picking up after their pets, and many people are treating the groups like one big trashcan...but this is really area specific. In my short time here, the neighbors have had more bearing on my enjoyment of the place then any other factor. Started with some crappy ones that moved, were evicted, or just plain settled down...life has been peaceful for the last 6 months.

Overall, I would reccomend, just don't come in looking for "luxury"...that seems a bit of a stretch. The rents are affordable for the space and location, the area is nice. You get what you pay for...want a better apartment' Step up to the more expensive phase two...newer, less problems...but no soul.
