Yo!

don't rent here

I am currently a resident here. I wish I could move, but my current situation will not allow that. I have been here 2 years now. When I first came here, I loved it, and all was well. Problems started a few months in. In the 2 years I have lived here, the main pool by the fitness center has something wrong with it about 90% of the time...the Jacuzzi doesn't work, or it is just cold water in there...OR once the pool was hot and the Jacuzzi was cold for weeks!!!! It is dirty most of the time, and every time one of us (there were several pool regulars) went into the office to complain, we got an astonished staff member that "didn't know a thing about the problem" and it would immediately be reported to maintenance. A week later...the problem still unfixed. Another person goes in to report problem again, and again an astonished staff member who claims no one has reported a problem. Even if that were true...why should we have to''' Wouldn't you think they would be aware of the problem' The gates only work half the time. In the heat of the summer we almost a whole month without being able to use even ONE of the 4 pools because they were either broken or filthy!!! The BBQ's are not maintained, and have lava rock dripping with fat so if you try to BBQ, it will always be burnt. On the weekends, the pool trash is overflowing...never taken out. The pool chairs must be the originals from 20 years ago as the are disgusting...plus there are only 4 or 5 of them at the only heated pool in the complex. The tables by the pool are always disgusting. I will say that the maintenance staff has definitely improved over the last few months, but the indifferent response you get when you go to the office with a problem is infuriating! There is NO customer service here. The "clubhouse" is no perk here either. They used to charge $25 to use it...which I thought was a lot considering there was never toilet paper stocked, and I had to empty spoiled food out of the refrigerator twice when I had used it...not to mention that the air conditioning did not work! NOW they are charging $75 for this small room by the pool!!!! They tripled the price without warning. Who can afford it as this comes at the same time our rent was raised' ( mine by $160/mo)!!!! Last year it raised by almost $100/mo! As a single parent, this is a HUGE chunk out of my budget!!! They don't do anything in small chucks here except when it comes to fixing things.
The girls in the office are always nice, but that does not get results. I am a quiet resident, and have never paid my rent late, but none of that does you any good when it comes to negotiating your rental increase. Your water bill is based on how many people live in your apartment...not on your consumption, and they water the grass...even when it is raining, AND my sidewalk gets more water than the grass since the sprinkler heads are not properly placed. They ask everyone to conserve water to keep the bill down for everyone, but you don't see them conserving!!! And my APS bill is over $200 a month in the summer and my AC is only set at 80 degrees! I'm not even that comfortable, but the apt is so energy INEFFICIENT, that my bill is outrageous! And there is dog poop on the sidewalk all of the time from owners not picking up after their pets. There are a TON of dogs here! The only perk to living here is the location. The views are awesome, and the hiking is spectacular. If those 2 things are not important to you, look somewhere else. This place is now way overpriced. It was a good deal when I moved in, but 2 years and an extra $260/mo later, it is WAY overpriced. The rent price I have put below includes the water bill of $35-40/mo. Also, I see that they list one of the perks here as having a business center...not one that I've ever seen!
