Own a gigantic dog and hate to keep it on a leash' Then this is the place for you!

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007
When we moved into Promontory Pointe, it seemed nice enough. Nothing spectacular, but okay for a middle-of-the-line apartment. The buildings are quite old, the carpet was worn, and the appliances belong in a museum.
Move in day was the high point for us; it was all downhill from there.
My biggest complaint is the inconsiderate nature of the other tenants here. There are a lot of people 20-somethings that are in party mode and play loud music at all hours of the night, leave trash outside their doors, and break beer bottles in the parking lot. And slam doors. And yell.
Then there are the many, many dog owners. I would not recommend this place at all if you do not own a dog. There does not seem to be a weight limit on the dogs in this community, so there are some people with very scary 100-plus pound dogs that jump up and bark menacingly at you when you walk by. Very few of these dog owners, from the 5-pound yipsters to the 100-pound Cujos, seem to like keeping there dogs on leashes (despite the leash law). Also, there is a lot of dog poo around, so you have to watch where you step.
Other than that... The grounds are decently well maintained, but the pools are a disaster. The filters never seem to work, and the are not well kept up.
The bugs are also a big problem. They must spray before each new tenant, because at first we didn't notice them at all. But as time passes, they are getting worse and worse. Almost every day now I have a squash bugs in the kitchen and in the bathroom.
The plumbing fixtures are very old and tend to leak frequently. There are numerous "soft spots" in the floor where the floor boards seem to be rotting.
Transportation is also an issue. DO NOT live here if you don't have a car. It is nearly a mile to any sort of business (even the Circle K). I hate having to drive a long way to get anywhere. The bus line is close, but, as stated by a previous reviewer, the bus stop is pretty far away.
While the immediate neighborhood the community is in is very nice, it is very close to one of the worse areas of Phoenix.
I hate to be all negative, so I will give a few positives:
-The office staff is helpful and maintenance has been very responsive when requested.
-Parking is covered and reasonably close. Negative: If you have two cars, an additional space can be tough to find sometimes.
-The apartments are big.
That's about all the positives. I would not recommend this apartment unless you are the owner of a big dog that can't find anywhere else to live.
