I recently moved from Rancho Sierra after living there for two years. There were MAJOR safety issues including getting held-up at gunpoint in the middle of the night by three Hispanic males who were breaking into vehicles that evening. A total of thirteen cars were broken into in one night. My windshield was broken once the first year I lived there as well. The assigned parking spaces are FAR away from the corresponding apartment numbers and there is an inadequate amount of guest parking. The garbage truck always woke me up bright and early every other day or so and took forever to go away. The plumbing is aged and the water is always turned off at random times to fix broken pipes. On the other hand, the staff is great and the apartment itself was cozy.

Rancho Sierra is part of the Crime Free Housing Community. Through this status, we continually provide residents with any issues brought to our attention through the Phoenix Police Department. Unfortunately crime can happen anywhere. The vehicle break-in in question though is a little over exaggerated. During that time, we did have several car beak ins but the most was 6 in one night, not 13 as stated. The gun point issue was not as explained either. During the attempt of a car breakin, the resident approached the theives and at that point they were presented by a gun. Once again, no matter where the location, the Phoenix Police Department advises against approaching a crime in process for this reason. Always call the police and do not approach the suspect. In regards to the parking situation, this has been addressed with previous comments. With the design of the community, unfortunately not everyone can have an assigned parking space in front of their apartment. There is however, adequate parking on property. There are 460 covered spaces throughout the property as well as 270 open spaces for guests or additional vehicles. The issue with the garbage truck has been addressed and Waste Management Services do not pick up trash until 7am on the designated days. Due to the size of the valley, they have accomodated our requests as best as possible. Finally, although the plumbing on property is older than a new community, our maintenance staff continually provide preventative maintenance to alleviate potential issues. On occasion, water does need to be turned off unexpectedly to address a water main break. This is to not only prevent extensive flooding but also to keep the costs of water charges lower. Rancho Sierra is a park like community with large shade trees throughout. There are advantages and disadvantages for the luxury of shade in the desert. Occasionally, the trees can weight on the pipes and cause leaks. We have an award winning management team on site that work efficiently when any situations arise and thus maintain a beautiful community for all our residents.
