**UPDATE as of June 2007**
While I still believe that the apts can be somewhat overpriced and there is no real incentive to renew your lease after the first year (discounts are only given to original leases), the apts are nice and not "ghetto" like some places in phoenix. The management staff has replaced/added a few members and most are courteous, knowledgable and friendly and willing to work with you on different things. Several know me by name and are aware of problems big and small in the complex and have solutions in the works.
The area is quiet during the day as well as the night and I have no complaints. The security company, when present, is usually proactive and friendly and speaks to persons while patrolling the lots. This is a step up from what I used to see before.
After living in other complexes, I still say this is one of the better places.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I have lived in Red Hawk for about 1.5 years now and it has its ups and downs. I am 23. While I got a good deal for the first lease period, I was screwed renewing however the cost is worth my convenience right now. I disagree with some of these posts. I have not ever heard excessive music at night, which is the period of time that I am normally awake, coming home from work, etc between the hours of 2am-6am. You can hear cabinets slam if u are in your kitchen, washer spinning rumble (very faint) but that's about it. I just got back from walking around the complex and didn't hear one thing or person (except light freeway noise). I have never seen excessive trash on the grounds or near the pool. The maintenence staff and grounds grews keep up the place and are pretty punctual every week (every Friday, 6-7am the weed wackers and trimming starts...ugh) The weight room is adequate with working equipment and the business center has saved me once or twice due to my broken printer. Young kids sometimes do make noise and you hear the vibration of them running up and down the stairs but not from your own bedroom. As far as I know the neighbors are nice, I have met 3 of them and they always say hi to me...maybe its just the building but the ones around here seem to be professionals, RN's, EMTs, Fire Dept/Police, military, some DeVry and UTI School students.. there are some residents who are *strange* but you will get that anywhere.
Not sure about before but the security *courtesy* patrol is so-so (with the knowledge that they are not hired to protect residents, but to protect property). RH should replace the company because all too often I come home to see the guard asleep in his car.
Management staff has been friendly and usually helpful. Again, I do not know how *some* of the residents can afford to live here (I have heard that RH has to bug ppl about late payments). There needs to be more parking and some assigned parking spots are crap. If you are assigned next to a covered parking support post, you're screwed because there is no room next to these posts and it seems like most ppl who park in the spot adjacent to you should not have drivers licenses because they park either a) crooked, b) right on the white line closest to you, c) the wrong way as defined in rental agreement. RH needs to partner with Phx PD to check on disabled, unregistered and expired tags/vehicles.
Last rant, yes during the summer time and warmer weather there are the usual bugs (nats, some flies, lizards, etc). For a brief period I noticed that suddenly there were cockroaches (very few, but nonetheless and black widows. In fact, I killed 3 on my own. They are supposed to spray for bugs every 2 weeks but for some reason these showed up. I was about to complain to management after 1 month because of the sudden onset of cockroaches, but now they are completely gone and have not seen them for 2 months now. The same goes for the black widows. Is this due to the cold weather or from the pesticide, I don't know.
End rant, hope you enjoyed my venting. Please comment if you disagree or agree with me!

This post is very accurate. I have been renting here for 4 months now. Would like to add that it does get loud most Saturday and some Friday nights if you live around the large pool
