My fiance and I moved in with our two small dogs in January from out of state and we have been happy overall here. I am actually surprised to see so many negative remarks, but everyone is different.
I do feel that rent is a bit high and you don't get much for your money, (my apartment is only 850 square feet) considering that where we moved from the housing prices were astronomical, but at least we were in a big city.
Downtown Phoenix just doesn't seem to have the metropolitan business and entertainment hub that cities such as Denver, Chicago or Los Angeles would, so in that sense, I think that as far as pricing goes, they need to get over themselves.
It has been very quiet here and I love the dog park area. Everyone seems to be very nice and along with high rent comes professional people who can afford it, so that is the trade off you get. I agree that the plumbing is sub par and the kitchen cabinetry could be improved, but again, it is an apartment. If people are hoping for granite slab counters and Thermador appliances, they should really look into owning. It just isn't realistic to provide true luxury amenities in a rental facility. At the end of the day I am quite content here, but I do plan to purchase a home by the end of my lease here, so unlike some of the unhappy tenants, I have a light at the end of the tunnel which perhaps makes things more bearable to me.
As far as the staff, everyone I have encountered has been great. However, when we were in the process of signing a lease from another state, EVERYTHING that was promised to us by a leasing agent (that no longer works here) was negated. You are promised the world and the end result is a different story, so make sure to get things in writing rather than taking a persons word for things, something I especially should have known since I have a degree in law!! Oh well, you win some you lose some, but it's not the end of the world.
