It's not bad

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008
My husband and I have lived in Roosevelt Square since February, and it really isn't as bad as many of these review state.
Cons
- I had to make three angry calls to the office after the three times maintenance entered our apartment without permission. I think they finally understand that we do not want maintenance entering without us there.
- My bike was stolen from the bike room due to someone propping open the door and breaking in to the bike room. It took maintenance 1.5 months to fix the bike locks, but the door lock is still broken - on BOTH of the bike rooms on the west side of building C. We had to escalate the problem to corporate to get it even marginally resolved. I don't think I will put my bike in the bike room again even if they fix it properly, so whatever.
- On that note, people prop open the security doors. We are paying for security that other residents are purposely circumventing. That is incredibly frustrating/stupid.
- Dog owners. It is not RS's responsibility to clean up after dog owners, definitely, but if you don't want to see poo and pee, this is not the place for you. Seriously people, clean up after your pets. It's freaking disgusting. (Yes, we have dogs, and yes, we clean up after them, every time)
- Since summer started, at night, there are THOUSANDS of roaches coming up the drains in the park and on the sidewalks around the complex. It is a mental feat to walk the dogs after dark. Yuck. (I guess we live in a city!)
- Parking can suck, and it is ridiculous that the Gold Spot has the entire 1st level of the crowded garage to themselves. We have found a spot in the garage every day, however.
- The elevator is frequently an issue. The buttons stick or don't work. Thankfully, the building is only 4 stories high, and for those days where I am not going to schlep all my stuff up the stairs, there is a 2nd elevator on the other side of the building.
Pros
- The office staff is generally friendly and helpful.
- Maintenance staff are nice and competent. Maintenance is pretty quick, usually.
- We have never heard a peep from any of our neighbors. You can hear people walk by in the hallway, and occasionally a car horn or dog barking, but it is really quiet.
- It is close to everything - We walk to baseball games, work, etc.
- The fact that we have a unique floorplan is pretty cool. It doesn't feel like we live in an apartment complex.
All in all, it is an apartment complex. You have to take everything with a grain of salt, pay your rent on time, and call the office when you have a problem. Don't expect special treatment, and don't be an ass (to the staff or your fellow residents), and you will be just fine.
