Years at this apartment:

When I came to look at the property I was very excited because I was told nothing would be available for over a month. Then miraculously a one bedroom apartment was available within 11 days. The person that showed me the apartments got lost on the property (which is relatively small, so much for intelligence), was unable to show me the model I wanted (the one bedroom pearl), and did not return calls. When I was shown the apartment I would be renting a horrible smell assaulted our noses as soon as she opened the door. She explained it was the neighbor's cooking. There is no way! Anyone would have died if they were eaten something that smelled that toxic. I moved in regardless because the semester was starting. I quickly learned that there are many unoccupied apartments and that I was lied to for no reason. It took to weeks to get rid of the stench. I had to repeatedly sprinkle baking soda on the carpet, pour it down the garbage disposal and dishwasher. The microwave door was broken, the finish on many cabinets pealing off, the carpet old and flat. The best part about luxury living at sonterra I quickly learned is its ambient sound track (If you enjoy listening to your neighbors bodily movements, personal conversations, and everything else that happens on the other side of your very poorly insulated wall). My first day I was startled to hear my upstairs neighbor walk around her kitchen, open and close her microwave and cabinets, tinkle and flush, turn on her computer in her room, I could overhear her phone conversation and learned that the night before she had gone out with a guy named Terry and thought he was --- because he had not slept with her and she hated waking up alone in her own bed, and my next door neighbor uses his toilet every day around 7:15 and gargles after brushing his teeth. All this is fine except that I can hear everything! The landscapers use blowers every morning at 6:30am except for Saturdays, and then it's at 7:30am so much for sleeping. If you happen to have your windows open or are on your patio you are engulfed by a cloud of dust. Forget having visitors, parking is so bad my friends sometimes have to park there cars across the street at Checker Auto Parts and I have to go pick them up and drive them back to their car because there is no parking. People are ticked every night for parking in the fire lane, in front of the garbage cans, in the handicapped spaces, or creatively parking their cars where ever they can fit them. I see a car being towed at least 2-3 times a week. The management is not honest, does not integrity, and will do anything to avoid admitting mistakes or taking responsibility for a mistake. They are seldom available and treat you as if you are a nuisance after you become a resident. For example when closing they lock the doors for the residents early turn off the lights and wait in the back so that they don't have to you, but are available for potential residents. They do not return calls until you become upset or walk down to the office and find them sitting at their desks chatting. The bright side is that although you may be surrounded by imbeciles, have no privacy because of poor insulation, and just about everything seems to be on its last leg (appliances) the layout is nice if you are willing to pay $860.00 for a one bedroom apartment on a busy street next to a low income, dilapidated complex (saddleback). I forgot to mention the broken gates and the dangerous left turn on to Tatum Blvd.
