Think long and hard at this point in time ~ April 2006

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
Timbertree has been a good place for me to live. I've been here now over a year and a 1/2 but I'm looking to leave when the lease is up. This is due to their "all utilities included" going away. I have been told there is only 2 meters on site so they are taking an average based on how many live in the apartment and the sq. footage once utilities are charged (beginning June 2006). I live in a "deluxe studio" that is 508 sq. feet. I'm by myself. I have now been told there is no way to regulate my apartment vs. someone else's. I'm only home about 1/2 the week so I will end up paying as much as someone who is here 7 days a week which is totally unfair.
I have been speaking with others that are in true 1 bedroom apartments that won't be able to afford the rise in prices, they are even trying to raise the water prices 20 bucks or so.
In the end it will cost me probably 75 to 100 bucks more of this apartment in utilities/water, not to mention rent increase, when I can find others in other utilities included complexes for less, which I will do.
Maintenance is good but Jim is my favorite. He has helped me out so much from the day I moved in (he actually helped me set up my apartment) to most likely the day I leave. He is the only one that will get a parting gift from me.
Management has been good to me but they have had a lot of turnover in the last few months, especially after the announcement of the end of "utilities included". Current crop, with the exception of Lorine, seems to not have a clue and some are even downright rude. I go to Lorine for most of my problems now.
I've never had a problem with car break ins as I lock down my motorcycle to the post in my spot and park in front of windows with my alarmed vehicle. I also keep out of my vehicle anything of value. Management finally started to install cameras around the property.
Neighbors are quiet though there are plenty of unsupervised children running around. There was a pot smoking family (with a young child) that had moved in and was promptly thrown out after a complaint was filed.
Overall, just think about what you are getting into here and always fill out the AMICO surveys that come over your e-mail. It seems to be one of the only ways to get stuff done anymore.
