I was sold on these apartments because they seemed nice for a good price and they offer to paint your walls pretty colors :) However, we've had to deal with mold in the master bathroom, our sink leaking in the masther bath, and worst of all... a leak in the roof in our son's room that maintenance has "fixed" 4 times and it grew mold. I actually had to call the company that owns the complex because the staff was taking their sweet time to fix the leaks and mold. The staff will be so nice and so "understanding" but they won't act on what they say and you have to be up their butt to get any results. Oh yeah, we've been woken up 3 times now by people fighting in the middle of the night (one fist fight) and it's not that it's the same people over and over, it's always people from different units that are waking us up. IT'S TERRIBLE!!!! P.S. My boyfriend's car was stolen out of the parking lot because he has to park 50 miles away from our apartment because the parking SUCKS! And, even though it's a "gated" community (the gates are always broken), I've seen homeless people digging the dumpsters twice. DON'T DO IT!

I have lived here for the past year and a half & I agree! I even reported the dumpster divers to the staff and was told they just let them dig, it doesn't hurt anyone....hello! Anyone hear of indenty theft, besides it being unsafe and uncomfortable to residents who think they live in a safe, gated environment?!
And ask me why it takes 7 months to get a ceiling fan installed. I'm still trying to figure that one out!
Comments about the office staff are right on. They are totally useless. If I performed at my job like they do, I'd be fired on the spot. What is it they actually do in that office????

I have lived here for about a year now and haven't had any of these problems. I have been in several places in my life and this one isnt bad at all. it sucks that you had that experience but I'm can tell you its not like that with every apartment because we enjoy it here. For the car being stolen this is phoenix I'm sure there are more reasons beside the parking that the car was stolen...they are stolen everywhere in this city. If you are expecting perfection then you will always be disappointed because nothing is perfect 100% of the time.

I'm the person that originally posted this review. In response to who ever wrote on 3/27/08... I've never expected perfection from anyone, ever. However, the office staff was RIDICULOUSLY incompetent. I argued with them that there was mold all over my apartment and it was completely visible and they would say "it's not mold, it seems to be mildew, there's a difference"... seriously??? Well, when it's coming back over and over and over again, and all you're doing is painting over it, that's a problem. Especially when my INFANT son had serious respiratory issues the whole time we were there, but, miraculously, hasn't had one issue since we've been out of that hell hole... I understand what you are saying about the car thing, the car was just icing on the cake for all of the previous events. Seriously, though, Wickertree is a disgusting, stray cat infested, ghetto, dirty apartment complex that I wouldn't even recommend to my worst enemy. So don't tell me I expected perfection, all I expected was customer service... and never ever got it.

I agree with the person who posted about expectations. I am sorry that the person had a bad experience but every apartment community I deal with on a daily basis (I am in the business) has many of the same problems. 1) Stray cats are a Phoenix problem and not isolated to any one property. Even if the mangement traps them - they have no place to take them. The shelters are full and most often will not take the ferel cats. 2)Water leaks are a Phoenix environment issue, Monsoon rains are a reality here and play havoc on roofs. Most communities do what they can but the cost of roof repairs are very expensive and affects rent prices in the long run. There is a difference between mold and mildew and one can find out what they have by using any of the inexpensive tests on the market. If proven to be mold, then yes it needs to be addressed and underlying cause treated. Dehumidifiers could be one solution for people with sensitivities. 3)People fighting in parking lots - welcome to the world! Humans argue, sometimes loudly or even violently. The management of a community is not everyones parent, nor are they cops. They adhere to standards for qualifying who lives in a community and most places are very strict these days about people with criminal backgrounds but NORMAL people can still engage in arguements that spill out of their apartments. Call the police if it is a concern. 4)Dumpster divers - again, welcome to humanity. People throw out usable goods, others will take advantage of that. I don't think there needs to be "dumpster guards" employed at every community and business to prevent this. Of course a big problem is the spread of BEDBUGS. Communities need to address this growing problem. 5) I would check the term "Security Gate" at the gate. I believe what most communities have are "limited access gates". It does just that - limits access, but can not prevent crime by individuals set on commiting crimes. Car theft happens and as the econmy becomes worse, it will happen more. Protect your own car with anti-theft devices and crooks will move on.
