Used to be great, now not so.

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2007
I have lived here at Acacia Creek since May 2003. When I moved in, the office staff was friendly, the residents were respectful and the apartments were nice. Since then, things have gone slowly downhill. They have evidentally lowered their standards for tenants over time, as the number of young, partying, disrepectful people have moved in (we're not all like that, though--I'm 23 and don't cause any problems). There are generally quite a few Dutch students here--which have been discussed at length here--but I've never had any problems with them, as I do not live anywhere near them. Otherwise, they have always been nice at the mailbox and generally polite at the pools.
People drive through the parking lot at 30 miles an hour; God forbid that children might like to play outside without a fear of being run over. The neighbors don't understand the concept of quiet time after 10 pm. People are constantly in the pool making tons of noise after hours (sometimes they lock the gates with padlocks to keep people out after 10). Parking seems to be a bit of a problem, although I've never had any real problems.
The grounds are pretty well kept, with maintenance being done regularly on Friday mornings. Safety has not been an issue with me, but a few years ago, there was a rape on the grounds and the police are generally seen at least a couple of times a month.
As for the staff here, I never had a problem until one of my roommates needed to move out of state-at which point there was a big problem with the staff allowing him out of his obligations here, with no real understanding of the necessity of his move. So, I ended up having to have my new roommate here for almost a year, not on the lease because they would not allow us to manoeuver as needed, paperwork wise. The rates on the apartments have gone up steadily. I think my 2 bedroom started out at 700 something dollars a month, and now it is almost up to $1000. I would say that this is caused by the area in which the apartments are situated. I've never had any problems with the maintenance staff--they have always been polite and done good work. The office also replaced our washer without many questions, once it had hit the end of its life.
In conclusion, I would say that the decline of this complex is due to the people they have allowed to live here. There has been quite a bit of personnel changes in the office, but the ones who have stayed over a period of time are generally very nice. Thus, the impoliteness and desrespect of other tenants contributes to the somewhat negative review of this complex. I will be moving next month to a quieter complex with a lower rent amount.
