Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
We have been renting here for over 2 years now, and cannot wait to leave. Let me start off with the good: Maintenance is outstanding, the grounds are well kept by the maintenance despite the fact that some tenants do not pick up after themselves; the staff is fairly competent and nice if you don't have an issue other than maintenance.
Most of our dealings with the staff have been amicable, however, the property manager Mary is very political in how she answers any concerns. If you do have a legitimate concern, they will say they will get back to you and never call. If you have a complaint about another tenant, good luck! Nothing will come of it unless you have the justification to involve the police.
For the most part, many residents have the self-respect not to bother you with their noise after city of Scottsdale ordnance hours. However, be mindful of who you move in next to because some of them like to listen to their music with doors and windows open at all hours of the night. Don't get an apartment next to the parking lot: there are many high school (there is a high school across the street) kids and juvenile delinquents (or adult, one being 18 does not make you an adult) that like to blast their music in their cars no matter what time it is. If you do not have a 9 to 5 job, plan on the lawn care people pissing you off at least once a week.
The safety has become a concern. They have lowered the rent yet again, and there are many shady characters that walk around the grounds in the wee hours of the morning. One of our vehicles has been lucky enough to be vandalized and hit and run on separate occasions. When brought up as a safety concern for our property, which was in our rented car port, the staff did absolutely nothing. There has been a streak of vandalism and theft throughout the past 6 months of multiple vehicles being broken in to with no action taken by the office to increase security either through increased security patrols or surveillance.
If you want an affordable place to live in Scottsdale, you get what you pay for. Keep looking; after your first year your rent will be at least $150 more per month.
I couldn't help but notice impeccable reviews written about this property by the office staff, nobody that lived here would give 5 stars for parking and safety.
