Horrible in Countless Areas

I?ve lived in numerous apartments in the 10 years I?ve lived in the Valley. This one actually started out decent, but went downhill quickly after my 1st year of living there. In September of 2002, (from what I understand) the complex underwent an annual inspection (to check if the buildings were still up to code) and they apparently failed miserably. A major reconstruction project started and I was given notice that it would take anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks. Yeah right, it went on for over 10 MONTHS!! With my balcony getting the concrete broken out twice and my entryway once (patio was out of commission for months, entryway for weeks) and this whole time they expected you to keep your outdoor furniture, etc in your livingroom. They entered my apartment, as far as I?m concerned, without notice. They denied this by saying they gave notice (yeah, 8 days earlier! So, you can give notice and just enter anytime after that'!'! What does that mean, 2 weeks, 2 months'). When I complained to the front office, her response was "Well, I live here too, and I?m inconvenienced also". Are you kidding me' Am I supposed to say "oh, good point" and let it go' What happened to making sure the people that pay a minimum of $700 a month are at least SOMEWHAT satisified' Instead you basically tell me to "suck it up" because they?re going through the same thing. GREAT customer service.

When I asked for (in my opinion) fair compensation (1 months free rent) for my unreasonable inconvenience (don?t forget, this construction went on for many months, along with that you had jackhammers, tile cutting saws, WORKERS OUTSIDE YOUR WINDOW this whole time, etc.) they actually replied with "We?ll make an estimate OF YOUR INCONVENIENCE when the construction is over". I tried to get out of my lease early only to be told "the construction company promised to be done by the end of the month anyways, so why would you want to move out'" When I confronted the front office after all of the construction trucks were gone and no workers were to be found anywhere they said "we can?t give you any compensation yet because the construction isn?t over. They?re still touching things up". I even wrote the property management twice and the overwhelming response I got from both them and the office management was "you signed a lease, and there?s nothing on the lease about construction". So, basically, we don?t care - we have your money and there?s nothing you can do about it.

And that?s only the beginning. Since the construction, everyone?s been moving out left and right. And to fill the void, they?ve been letting anyone and everyone move in to take their place. The parking lot is set up like a racetrack and trust me, the tenants that live there treat it like one. I?ve seen cars with plastic over where their windows were broken. Parking is the worst I?ve seen in any apartment complex. They waste so much space by having grassy areas that could be used for 4-5 parking spaces at a time. The list goes on and on.

Unless you enjoy giving your money to someone that only cares about the bottom line and nothing about you, I wouldn?t recommend this apartment complex if it was the last one in the Valley.
