I agree - These are shabby apartments with a fresh coat of paint to dupe unsuspecting would-be renters. And, don't believe the "renovations"... If you are a gal that likes to wear heels on occassion don't walk on the "wood style" flooring b/c you will destroy it. It's some sort of veneer and your heels will rip it up and you will get fined when you move out for damaging the flooring! Ridic!! The windows are not multi-paned so they do not insulate well from the hot sun; we've been waiting for new window screens (ours are full of holes) since NOVEMBER, our washer/dryer was manufactured when I was in kindergarten (literally!!) and the kitchen sink faucet allows for nothing but miniature dishware and pots and pans to be washed effectively. Oh, and not to mention the police have been to the complex en-force in the last 3 weeks - undercover, patrol cars, suvs and as of last night, a helicopter hovering in tight circles so low to the ground that I could tickle the pilot's feet from my balcony!! Outrageous!!

Rents are reasonable compared to New York or California. Arizona is a good magnet for people from the overpriced areas.

The thing people do not know from these areas - which is where I came from is that the pay in Arizona is worst than St Louis, Overland Park KS or Dallas.

You will not notice it now but it will sink in year after year of earning less.

I am making more here than what I made in New York City, so that point is relatively moot. It depends on what career you have really. Cost of living is cheaper out here too.

Um, last time I checked, year after year, you're supposed to get raises and earn more every year... but that's only if you do your job the right way... As for cost of rent, it's going to go up, accept it... It's like car insurance, you know every time you renew they are going to bump it up, even if your driving record is immaculate. The only way to combat it is to change carriers... translation to apartments is: MOVE if you don't like it... and where the heck is Overland Park (and, moreover, who cares??)
