I called the leasing office over the phone to set up an application/reservation for a 2bdrm unit. I was quoted over the phone that there would be an $80.00 holding fee for the apartment and a $200 non-refundable redecorating fee. I was required a deposit of $75dollars because I was employed by a preferred employer. The $80.00 holding fee would be credited to me upon move in. So I'm expecting to sign my lease and drop off a check for the remaining $195.00 deposit money. I show up to see the unit...first of all... these are old apts, they are set up really crappy...both bathrooms had rust around the soap holder and out of date appliances in the kitchen. Also - no microwave (just in case you're wondering). We return to the office to find my move-in sheet. This sheet reflects that I owe $1250 upon move in!!!!!!!! And when I explained that this was not disclosed up front and I would not be able to move in at this price the leasing agent says "What' Did you think we were giving it away for free''" I said no - I thought you were conducting honest business here. In addition, I will not be receiving my holding fee back. Don't rent from Equity. I was hoping the other reviewers were just special cases. i'm just glad I didn't have to suffer through an entire lease with all of the BS.

How true every contact i have had with equity in looking for a place for my daughter has been FEEE FEES FEES they are just MONEY GRUBBERS OF THE WORST KIND.

Scottsdale Apartments leave a lot to desire... I prefer Cave Creek and Carefree... Sure its farther but well worth it in quiet and newer appliances and plumbing. I rent with Equity up here and it is 1053 / mo. w/out too many fees at move-in either as long as someone has a decent renter's history or credit history.
