Lived here for over 3 years in the same unit

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2007

My hubby and I moved to the Cortesians in 2004. We received discounted rent at the inital move in because SCI helped place us here from out of town. We have the B5 unit, 2Bed/2Bath, HUGE patio, fireplace, bottom floor. The apartment rents for $1200 and we currently pay just over $950. Yes, they increased rent by $20 or so with each renewal, but I didn't feel like moving so I dealt with it. When we first moved in, the office staff was horrid. They were stuck up and they all treated the tenants like wastes of space. When new management took over, things changed, some good and some bad. The office staff is way nicer and down to earth. The manager is a sweetheart and the head of maintainence is awesome! They try to keep up with things, but I think they allow the wrong kinda people to live in the complex. Too many desrespectful college kids for one. One maintainance guy stole my hubby's wedding band while fixing our pipes inn the bathroom.
We've had pipes bust in our walls that had to be replaced, which caused a huge leak, leaving our carpert soaked and covered in mold. The carpet was replaced without any problems. When after 3 years, out patio carpet began to smell, the replaced that as well. When our neighbors above us were rediculously loud, kids running in and out the balcony door and slammming it, up and down the stairs, screaming in the echoing stariwell and constantly fighting on their balcony, they took care of it. It took quite a few phone calls, but eventually they just moved out. Sometimes they lock the gates and pool too early, sometimes, they never lock them at all. I've never not felt safe and didn't have a bug problem until just this summer and it was mostly ants which they sprayed for when requested and I haven't had any problems since. They told us they were demoliting the complex in January and we weren't able to renew our lease past December. To be honest, if they postpone demolition, I'd renew until we buy a house.
