Excellect, but pricey

I've lived here for two years and have had an excellent experience here, overall. The last post had a point about the kids being noisy, but I think that just depends on what part of the complex you live in, not to mention that you'll probably get that at any apartment. I did have my stereo stolen out of my car once here, but it was stolen 4 times at my previous apartment, so I'd consider that an improvement (my car was very easy to break into). I can't say I've seen any criminal activity, and I've never had a problem with my neighbors, in fact everyone including the staff seems very friendly (the higher rent ensures a little more affluent crowd).

Plenty of parking, and each apartment gets one assigned covered spot. Some people complain about needing more than one per apartment, but I've never seen an apartment that offers that. Even if you have to park in a guest space, the place is laid out so well that you'll never have to walk more than about 50 feet to your door.

As far as maintenance, The few problems I've had were taken care of quickly. Just today, my toilet tank sprung a leak. I called the office and they sent a man right over, he replaced the tank within 15 minutes, and he even changed my air filter. I did have a problem with ants for a while in the summer. They have an exterminator that comes every week by request, but the spray only seemed to last a few days.

It is a little out-of-the-way. The nearest gas station/convenience store is 2 miles away, which makes it annoying to run out and grab some soda or any quick little thing. However, once you drive the 2 miles, you've got basically anything you want: Albertson's Wal-Mart, Target, Costco, Sam's Club, Home Depot, Blockbuster, Boston Market, Taco Bell, Burger King, McDonald's, etc. The Frank Lloyd Wright/101 intersection has everything. There's not much for nightlife nearby, though. It's discouraging to have to drive 20 minutes to Downtown Scottsdale or 30 to Tempe to go to a decent bar or night club. But there are a lot of good restaurants around here.

I've never had any noise problems, and even though the airport is close, I never hear the planes. It's only very small planes in that airport, and the flight pattern doesn't really come close to the apartments. Sometimes the Princess resort down the street has a fireworks show, but that's more cool than annoying.

One last thing, the layout of the main room is really pretty bad (I've been in several different models, and they're all about the same). It's a long and skinny room, which makes it almost impossible to put two couches (i.e. sofa and love seat) in it without looking weird, and the cable outlet is in a place that doesn't allow a TV bigger than 27", unless you get a flat plasma screen. A decorator's nightmare, I think.

Overall, a very good apartment. Kind of expensive, but that's what keeps it a nice place to live.
