On an initial visit the Enclave appears rather nice. Good location, Grayhawk is a pleasant neighborhood, close to grocery store and freeway access (and freeway noise). Living there exposes some of the issues with the complex.
Located in North Scottsdale in the Grayhawk development, there is tennis, basketball, volleyball, baseball within walking distance. The Grayhawk golf club is less than 2 miles away. A bit of trivia, the course names were used by visiting Enron executives in that fiasco. A small strip center is nearby with a grocery, video stores, and a couple of restaurants. Other dining is within 10 minutes driving. You do feel a bit out of town at the Enclave.
The apartments seem well built upon initial inspection but the walls are paper thin (you get to know your neighbors sleeping habits, including snoring) and several units I looked at had water intrusion. The AC filter is difficult to change, at least in the model I lived in and they never offered to change it.
The grounds are just ok in my opinion. Sparse desert landscape. Two pools, often occupied by dogs cooling off, and stay off the tiny grass areas as the same dogs leave deposits there.
It is a gated community but the gates are open all day. Parking became a problem as more people moved in, if you don't have ample garage space and come home late get ready to walk. The garages are big enough for a small car and that is about it. Go for the two car garage, a bit better and gives you a place to park.
The leasing staff seem ok, and the office is nicely decorated. The workout room is ok, no stairmaster, and tvs with headsets.
