Nice place to live...

I moved to the Phoenix area and picked an apartment off apartments.com sight unseen. I was a little worried, but not too worried since it was in Scottsdale. When I showed up I was pleasantly surprised. The community itself is beautiful, and right next to Scottsdale Ranch which has excellent facilities. The community is gated, and there is lots of space between buildings and the parking lots are not crowded at all. Several pools and lots of grass around--including a putting green.
The apartment itself was quite large, but the quality was not quite as good as the outside appearances might lead one to believe. The stove was kind of cheapy (the range covers didn't fit very well), and the tiles on my fireplace broke fairly easily. Also, had a bit of a termite infestation early in my stay...
However, the staff were always quite quick to address these problems and I'm sure they come up at most any place. Other than the termites, I never had a problem with bugs or roaches like happens at so many other places around Phoenix.
They let me have a satellite dish, and you are in easy range of DSL (so you're not limited to just Cox).
Some people may not like the high percentage of older residents, but if you like peace & quiet, it's a definite plus in some ways.
You're within a close drive of several shopping centers, including Barnes & Noble, and a Home Depot. Bank of America is right down the street. The only reason I moved is that my job changed and I ended up having to drive farther to Tempe every morning, and so I moved to shorten my commute (hate traffic on the 101). However, my new place pales in comparison to La Privada.
Definitely recommend!
