HAVE TO AGREE TO DISAGREE (In a few ways and not in one of them)
I would have to agree that they have pretty strict requirements when it comes to credit/background, but that has nothing to do with this particular complex, and only relates to their corporate policies. And, like you said, "Look at the Economy" so it would be silly to blame them for being cautious. However, I have lived here for a while and I have had NO problem with parking, I have seen NO complex in this price range with BETTER GROUNDS, PERIOD, and their maintenance staff is VERY GOOD.
I disagree that they would turn you away if you were willing to pay deposits AND the first 3 months rent in advance, but i know they dont have much say about it at the office here because its all approved through their network computer system. However, I do agree with ONE and ONLY ONE thing, and that is the office staff. They are short of "Friendly" at best and often times rather RUDE. If the location, apartments, and $600 a month with First months rent free, the grounds/Pool area/BBQ's weren't so good, I might have chosen something else and filed a complaint with their corporate office for the "General Atitude" f the staff (Excluding Maintenance staff as they are great). And if they treated you poorly, you probably ought to do the same.
However, being a happy tenant I have to disagree with the statement that there are better apartment complexes as far as quality for your money goes. I looked around a lot before moving in and this was by far the cleanest, most "up to date", and well equipped I saw for the money, and none of the others were anywhere near the price.

I totally agree and can relate to you. I had a very similar situation when applying for an apartment there. They took my application $ (non-refundable, ofcourse!)and then insisted I had to pay an extra month of rent deposit due to low credit score (which I mentioned up from might be the case due to old hospital bills, credit cards- have nothing to do with my rent paying at ANY apartment complex I've lived at BTW). Then a month later after I decided I was not going to keep throwing my $ away by continuing to apply to places where just going to reject me in the end, I renewed my lease because I could no longer give a required 30day notice. I received an e-mail from them asking if I was still looking for a place and present me again with their wonderful "Summer specials"... I told them to take a hike!
So glad I did NOT move there.
