I lived at Montierra for one year. While the parking is problematic, it is only the tip of the iceberg. Problem 1 - My apartment was FILTHY when I moved in. I'm talking food stains all over the cabinets, gross hair all over the bathrooms, even urine on the walls. They had someone come out to reclean it but I don't think they spent two minutes there because I came home to the same filthy apartment. When I called to complain again, I was told that since they had waived the cleaning deposit (they were running a special), there was nothing else they would do. Problem 2 -When I was moving in, I noticed a horrible smell, like a nasty old hotel room. I called management. One of the employees walked through the apartment while I was at work the next day and told me she didn't smell anything. I had several friends and even the internet hookup guy tell me the apartment smelled. I called management again and basically they said that's the way their apartments smell and there was nothing they could do. Now, while that was going on, I also had a problem with my air conditioner. This was at the beginning of August in AZ - not a time to not have a good air conditioner. I was basically told that it was working fine and because it was an apartment with garages underneath and no other apartments attached, my air conditioner would not work as well. Ok, the temp never got below 85 when I was running it 24/7. Not acceptable. Again, I was told there was nothing they would do. That's when I asked for the name and address of the property owners. I was asked why I wanted it and I said that I was going to inform them that I was having real issues and they weren't taking me seriously. At that point, the manager offered to clean my vents, repaint, and replace the blinds to try to help the smell, and do whatever was necessary for cooler air, even installing a larger unit. Finally they offered to at least try to help. They came in when I was at work, without my permission, and changed out the garbage disposal. This was fine but I had a brand new rug in front of the sink that they didn't bother to move and it got wet and stained from the disposal. Not a big deal but come on, be considerate of people's stuff. As far as changing the disgusting blinds, I called because several weeks later, they still had not been replaced. The lady told me they were replaced and I said no, they were not. So then she tells me that the blinds were on order. A few weeks later, I called to check on them and was told that they were still on order. Seriously. We aren't talking high dollar blinds from Europe, you can't tell me they were still on order. I called once more about a month later and was given the same story. When I moved out after a year, the same nasty blinds were still there. Problem 3 - A couple of weeks after I moved in, I called because my toilet was running constantly. It took several calls over about a week's time before someone finally came out. Apparently the maintenance staff does not work on the weekends unless it's an emergency. Anyway, I came home from work on Monday to a note that said "toilet fixed, filter replaced". I'm not sure what kind of filters toilets have because I'm not a plumber but the toilet was still running constantly so I had to call them again.

I really don't think I was asking for much when I tried to get those few things fixed. I was never rude to anyone or demanding and I certainly wasn't someone who called for things that weren't important. I always paid my rent early, was always quiet and respectful to neighbors and staff and didn't cause any damage to the apartment. I did get my security deposit back after I moved without any trouble. I would not recommend Montierra because they don't seem to care about anyone's issues until you threaten to complain about them. Also, they raised the rent 13% if I wanted to stay another year. I called to see if we could negotiate that and they did come down $40 but at that point, I figured it was time to move.

THis answers some questions I have about the place and am considering moving into a two-bedroom above garages. Do you hear the garages opening and closing all the time? Did your air conditioner get better cooling? The place looks spotless on the outside but they don't actually let you see the apartment you are going to move into until moving day. Please respond! Thanks for the info...

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, I hadn't looked at this website in awhile. I didn't hear garages ever and I lived directly above them. The air conditioner did get some better, I think because they cleaned out all of the vents. I was still pretty warm in the summer and freezing in the winter. I'm sure you've already made your decision about the apartment but maybe this will help someone else. Again, sorry for not responding sooner.
