Luckily I had a short term lease with Pillar. But, I was still counting the days until we would leave. The management was non-responsive to repair issue. We had to call numerous times to get the backdoor lock fixed and that was a real security issue. Management lost our rent checks numerous times and we did not find out until we got letters from the lawyers. Then, after move out they we got a collection notice for payments we sent (we had to show them to cashed checks). In addition, they tried to charge $250 for clean-up when their own report showed only the small floor in the kitchen was dirty. It was definitely a scam because I know others who they tried to stick with cleaning bills after moveout. They also kept the pet deposit from a friend even though her apartment was spotless on moveout.
It is not worth the trouble. And, be sure to read the lease carefully. They have a tricky notice provision where your lease renews automatically. I know people who were stuck for rent because they did not give proper notice they did not want to renew.
Another big problem was that we had our car keyed numerous times. Probably from the drunken loud parties held every weekend. Not a great place for a kid.
