ok, first of all... this is the best apartment i've ever lived in. however, this is also the first apartment i've had in scottsdale (all the rest were in phoenix) so i might be comparing apples to oranges here. either way, you would have a hard time finding a 2 bed 2 bath 1200 sq ft for about 1050 anywhere else in this area. there are some ghetto college dorm-looking apts right down the street that look disgusting and they wanted about 50 bucks less per month than San Antigua. so it was an easy decision when i saw what this complex looked like for the price.
The pools are really nice, you can drink beer (cans only, duh) and no one seems to mind/care. ya there are a lot of old people but thats usually only mid-week. weekends is mostly my age group (mid 20s) especially in the afternoon time. same goes for the gym... great gym but again, im used to living in phx so to me this is the best apt gym i've ever had. the older folks tend to do their work outs early, so if you really care to not be around them just work out in the evening or so and you wont be bothered. gym is open 24/7 by the way, which rocks as well.
location is awesome. its a 3 minute walk from my front door to zipps. there is also el paso, busters, and a couple other places to get your drink on within walking distance so no DUIs!!! if you want to go out, old town is about a 10 min drive south on hayden.
as for security, all i can say is i haven't heard of 1 auto theft, or break-in since i've been here (almost 1 year now). if you know anything about the phx metro area, you will know that a full year with no auto break-ins in nearly impossible.
a few other people comment about their crazy old neighbors complaining nonstop. well i'm guessing if those reports were true, those old people have died out or something since most were a few years old. I've never been harassed about my noise levels and my friend has a place here as well and usually has beer pong going on each weekend. never once had a complaint about any of that.
inside of the apts are ok, kitchen floor and cabinets are a bit on the cheap side but large rooms and closets are FTW. the outside of the apts is very nice and clean. ya there is always an issue with people picking up after their dogs, but thats gonna be the case in just about every complex you go to.
i've got another friend whos lived here for over 5 yrs and says he's never leaving if he can help it.
the only complaint i can think of isn't even that bad, but i can hear my upstairs neighbors when they walk around. i don't think i've ever lived below someone i couldn't hear, so that is pretty much par for the course. I saw some other person post a comment about a thick slab of concrete per floor but clearly they worked for the complex or something because thats just not the case.
