I can't believe I signed a one year lease! They show you the "model" apartment which is next to the pool. It looks very nice. But now I understand why they won't let oyu see the actual apartment you are renting. They ONLY landscape in front of the office and in the entryway - because that is what new residents see. What they DON'T see are piles of dog crap EVERYWHERE! Nearly every sigle person has a dog here - except no one cares about picking up after the dogs! It is so smelly and gross! Your water bill is split with the rest of the residents so if you are out of town - you STILL have to pay! Electric too - very strange. There is NO landscaping done except by the office. Parking is an absolute nightmare. Because the complex is so old, they spots are small to fit tiny cars - not SUV's! Scorpians are everywhere because they don't spray the area! Most dogs get Valley Fever because the commons area is not taken care of. It's a danger zone. People get their vehicles broken into all the time. Residents grill in the middle of the parking lot! It's like living in a run down trailer park. Staff could not care less - they are to busy hanigng out with each other or playing on the computer - it's all very strange. The tanning bed is never cleaned - so be careful or you could end up with a sexually transmitted disease. Kids come in from all over neighborhoods to use the gym - BE CAREFUL - a girl was jumped in there! It's not a very good place to rent. You can rent a HOUSE for less! A MUCH SMARTER THING TO DO! The pool is always shut down, and there are no rebates. Complex seems too big for the limited staff to handle. One handyman for 400 or more apartments. Poor guy never gets a break. BUGS are everywhere- they do not spray - be careful! I am probably going to sue to get out of my lease. They have broken several renters laws and it's a dangerous place to live. Too many white trash punks and black teenage thugs that hang out here that make you feel unsafe. We are constantly having to call the Scottsdale police. Sorry, but San Carlos is run by the same property management company - in FLORIDA! They have no idea how bad it is here because they are in another state! That is a major problem. If you rent a place (not here) make sure you ask who the property mangement company is and make sure it is a local company. If it is not, you are screwed. 1450 a month for a dirty, smelly apartment that is not taken care of. Yuck! Look elsewhere - Frank's on Shea, the Overlook, others but NOT San Marcos or San Carlos!
