Definitly not the worst apartment I've lived in...

I moved to San Marcos one year ago. I love the area, we are close to everything I need. The grounds are well kept with the exception of several rude tenants who think that the world is a toilet for their dogs. The amenities are nice, though I wish the business center was open later. The parking situation is pretty bad, but that's almost any apartment. In the year that I lived in my apartment I didn't have to call maintenance once. The only issue I did have was a gaping hole in the hallway outside of my apartment. It was there for quite some time, but it didn't really cause any problems aside from being kind of ugly. There are also a few people in the leasing office who are rude and unresponsive (they act like it's a chore for them to fetch a package delivered to the office in your absence). All in all San Marcos was fine, no major problems, but an apartment is an apartment...

I like it here, I do not think the office staff are rude or unresponsive - just the opposite! I'm staying put.

OH god, this place is a big dog pile with shi*t everywhere, rude employees, no activites for the outrageous amount of money they charge to live here. NO insulation - if it's hot it's REALLY hot. PLUS people smoke pot on their patios and yes, there are a LOT of parties. great place to live if you are a college student with no money and you like to party. Not a place for serious people,, professionals, or families. You can get a BRAND NEW place (Or even OWN your own CONDO) for what they charge here. People are just naive when they move here, then they learn and leave this complex. You get lied to and hoodwinked into moving here and then it's all up to you to survive. It's really gross here, bugs, and animals everywhere. Our lease is up soon - thank god!

Lived at San Marcos for a little under a year in 96',and after which moved back to where I am from. Everything was very nice then, and there were a lot of older couples and then a lot of 30 something couples. Everyone was pretty close and would go have drinks at the pool in the evenings. I met more peopleat San Marcos than anywhere else in my time spent in Scottsdale. It was a blast. However Phoenix/Scottsdale has been booming even in 96' and I'm sure the nice parts have even spread further closer to the the Mcdowells or farther north. In 96 100th and Thunderbird was prime spot. There was one incident where I decided to not tell them I had a dog...then the dog got loose, the "security" or groundsceepers wouldn't give our dog back which is really messed up. Perhaps they have chronic management problems.
