Overall the apartments look like a great deal when you first come-in, however there are a number of problems that you notice after you've been there a few months. And yest I know there will always be minor problems with even the best-run complexes but here are some of the things that drive many of us nuts: First, they have a massive problem with crickets and ants infesting the apartments. (I know of one tenant who had to resort to masking & taping off all her windows, fireplace, and patio doors to try and prevent dozens of bugs she would find everyday!) Management does contract-out with a pest control co. but it hasn't appeared to help most of the tenants I speak with. (And crickets don't bother me at all yet it's embarassing to have visitors over and have to squash a dozen of them during their 4hr stay or worse yet wake-up in bed with a two inch bug sitting on your chest!) Second, numerous occasions of needing to walk around broken glass in the pool area which is unacceptable. Considering it is against state-law to have ANY glass items in the pool area it would be nice to see management follow these rules themselves and not sit around the pool drinking from glass bottles & cups which I see regularly. Third, power costs are high for the size of the apartments and is due, I believe, to the inefficient maintenance (i.e. no yearly servicing) of the A/C-heating systems and poor insulation. My power costs are over 3 times comparable apartments in the neighborhood and this adds up quickly over the year even when keeping the temp at a modest 80!! If you want an example of the shoddy construction just look under the counter-tops when you are in the kitchen areas: major gaps, unfinished, and really poor quality that, having friends in construction, is an indication of the complex's quality (also a way in which bugs get into your apartment through these gaps in the walls by coming up from someone elses apt.) Finally, complex is going condo which I think is funny since there's much better value in nearby BRAND-NEW developments than what they're offering. I mean if you don't mind living in a re-hab'd apartment complex that's had questionable maintenance then go for it! My suggestion is to look around the area, like up near Grayhawk, where you will get much better bang for your buck and for a NEW space that hasn't had anyone living in it before.
