I tend to believe the recommendation given here on 2/28/03 is a valid one given by a resident- not someone in the office. Though it may sound like an office-sponsored promo, I basically agree with it, and came to know several residents at Sun King who said those same things to me- in part or whole- in casual conversation.
As in everyday life there are other factors to consider: personality conflicts, personal tastes, financial ability, etc. Plus the main one: nothing/no one is perfect.
Though life is not perfect at Sun King or anywhere else, I would live there again if I returned to Scottsdale and my financial state remained unchanged from what it was then.
Only 2 big problems I was aware of while I lived there:
1. The high rate of auto thefts/auto break-ins. Though, the new security- Lucille- seems to do a very good job overall, Phx is #1 in car thefts in the country, and with Sun Kings 4 separate parking lots I believe the complex is too big for one person to handle alone in this respect.
2a. The managements use of poisened bird feed on the roofs of the complex to control the pigeon population.
2b. The complex owners penchant for strolling the complex once a month with a stick and shoving pigeon nests containing baby pigeons and/or unhatched eggs off the 2nd-story supporting pillar tops to the ground below.
Not only cruel tactics, but unnecessary. Also, dogs or cats may be harmed or killed by eating poisoned pigeons; and a child could be poisoned by eating the feed blown onto the ground.
