All WAS great UNTIL summer of 2008!

In several weeks I will have been here for 2 years. I can no longer justify wasting my hard earned money. Since the price has plummeted to attract new renters to a sparsely occupied community, the phrase - "you get what you pay for" has never been more appropriate to describe the tenants.
1. Thumping stereos late on weeknights.
2. Large breed dogs allowed to roam without a leash (my favorite, a German Shepherd mix who almost tore my 15 pound little guy to shreds while the owner watched and did nothing to help us).
3. Scottsdale PD showing up 2-3 nights a week due to domestic disputes and parties.
4. Broken down piece of s*%! cars being worked on and left in resident parking areas.
5. A highly funded community "Great Room" which looks fabulous but has now been overcome by the latchkey kids while they break from skateboarding in the parking lot ...
6. And a final favorite - the trio of forty-something dudes who loiter in the barbeque and dog walking area without shirts on - who aside from being the FURTHEST from attractive specimens - quite frankly make it a bit awkward and inappropriate for the residents (and children) forced to look at them.
Simply stated, this community is now largely a place for disrespectful posers who want to impress their friends with the zip code - but are unwilling to behave with a basic level of decorum inherent in the atmosphere that proceeded them. I so wish that this all was NOT the case, but things have gone from distinguished and respectable to white ghetto faster than my E30 goes from zero to sixty!
Do your research, take your time, but definitely do not sign a lease here.

I had the exact same experiences. Especially with the cops, blasting stereos, etc. Ugh.

thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thorough review. Your comments definitely saved me from making a huge mistake. I will continue looking elsewhere.

ghetto indeed! "E30", what is that? This also brings to mind there are a good number of "posers" there driving cars that are worth more than their "ghetto" apartment cost to build. That was always good for a laugh... No offense to the poster, but true. Def don't move into this place tho. Their logo on the front office is "motion energy balance". They must have forgot the preceding "toxic". As in "TOXIC MOTION ENERGY BALANCE"...
If you've see Blobots 'Scottsdale Bars' Music Video all the people in that video live at The Edge...

yep, we just moved to the sister complex "the venu" and they sold us on the ammenities etc. Now that we are here, they decided to start taking away ammenities due to the economy! What a joke... I agree with the concept "you get what you pay for" but we didn't sign up for this, and we're 'paying' for it! Definitely do your research before you sign a lease!

I've heard the management company, Trillium Corp, is going into bankruptcy. I've lived at the Edge for two years and noticed services declining the past few months. When I moved in, a landscaping crew kept the place immaculate but they're gone. There used to be a 24 hour guarantee for maintenance calls but I've been waiting two weeks for a repair now. The maintenance staff of several people has been reduced to one man (Dave) for both the Edge and Venu. And I've noticed the dog poo laying around that used to be picked up promptly. I'm glad I rent and didn't buy here!
