Why did I live here for six and a half years'

From: -Anonymous-

Years at this apartment: 1997 - 2004

I lived in these apartments from August 1997-February 2004. And when I moved here from Hinsdale Illinois, I loved it. The management was nice, the maintence men were quick, the complex was kept clean. Years went on, management was a revolving door and by the time I moved. Via Ventura was not only a place that I was happy about leaving. Via Ventura was a place that my mom and I simply ran out of. However, it did have pros:

Pros:

-I Met some lifelong friends at Via Ventura
-The LOCATION! THE LOCATION. Via Ventura is in the McKormick Ranch of Scottsdale, so of course the area is beautiful. There are greenbelts, and lakes. Very very nice.
-Assigned parking

Cons:
-some of those friends I made' Some of the nosiest people on the planet. There is always some nosy person snooping around to blab your business to other tenants or the management.
-a review below mentioned drugs. And in 1997...I don't even think Via Ventura knew what drugs meant...but by circa 2002-2004, drug-dealers and addicts were quite popular.
-the maintence men get progressively worse, they just ride around in the golf carts like they own the place. They don't fix things on time. Also, during monsoon season, there are many storms that knock down trees, the covers to the parking ect. The maintence men take care of the trees all right, but the covers on the parking just get worse and worse each day.
-the management is now snooty and annoying, and go on power trips every .2 seconds
-we lived in three different apartments and the first one we lived in was a 1 bedroom (of course that was when Via Ventura was nice) and that was the niest one we lived in
-The second one's water kept being shut off and on...and the hot water could never be counted on
-And in the third one...I didn't even have a shower in my bathroom, and so they asked us if we wanted to move to a different apartment. Well, when I went to see what the apartment that they gave us an option to live in looked like...it turned out that it had no fridge, or oven.
-People are constantly screaming, and the Scottsdale police are always there (in the later years mind you)
-the pools are kept in poor shape, and are constantly being closed due to vandalism
-old utilities, disgusting carpet
-they know how to get you in a corner, they have nerve, they will give you great deals
-when you move out, you could vacumn and vacumn, and the whole wall over, make sure everything is spotless...and they still find something to charge you with.
-dog and cat droppings everywhere.

My experience in the later years at via ventura were disgusting, and I couldn't wait for my house to built. The only great part about Via Ventura was the location.
So...if you would like to move to this area in Scottsdale, but can only afford/want an apartment, you should probably check out McKormick Place which is down the street, or the apartments next door to Via Ventura, they are slightly more expensive...but they should be.
