Whats with the bad reviews'''

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2005
K my lease ends Jan 15th but I moved out a month early and they're trying to rent it and save me some $$$. So I've been here a year. I have a few issues to report but from what I'm seeing here, they lived in an entirely different place than I did!!!
K, first off, the maintenance staff always came over like 2-6 hours after I put a call in. It was the same guy year-round. Not a college grad but he knew his stuff and was always polite and easy to talk to. Water was always fine, AC was excellent / heating was excellent, although the thermostat had too much slack and usually heated / cooled about 5 degrees too fast.
The office staff were totally awesome. Yes they do have that "I'm smiling and cheery because they pay me to be" personality, but they were awesome at accomodating me.
Here's a couple examples:
When I first bought my apartment, I had a job already and had traveled to come here, so I needed a place to stay ASAP. They set me up in a different empty apartment for 3 days while the one I wanted was prepared for me (it was still being leased when I arrived). So that was cool, a free room for 3 days.
About 3 months into my lease, my mailbox had a problem with the lock, and they replaced it. But it developed another problem. I'll spare the details but it was a design flaw with the overall mailbox panel (1 panel = 20 boxes). So while they waited for a replacement panel, they had the mailman bring my mail to the main office and kept it in a special mail bin there. On top of that, one of the office staff ( a cool girl I'll keep anonymous) even sorted out the obvious junk mail!
THese folks have been helpful and accomodating through my whole lease, I always got my questions answered / problems fixed. I know most of the staff by name and I've spoken with the lead manager several times now.
There was a steam pipe leak issue in April, if I remember, and I don't know much about it, but that's the only bad thing I ever heard about this place from people who I talked to there. Grounds looked great (if a bit sparse on variety of vegetation), landscapers were busy every day, and I saw the mainentance cart rolling to some apartment all the time.
Parking was never a problem, we were assigned a covered parking slot, so a post I saw about parking made no sense to me. Apartment was very clean from the start, and when I was done with it (I cleaned it myself and took photos) they said it was 100% and I got all my deposit back.
So that's with these bad reviews' If I hadn't taken a job on the other end of town I'd still be there. ALthough they did raise their rates alot, from what I hear everyone is. It's robbery they way everyone is raising rates, but it's not just these guys.
ANyway, I say Via Ventura is a great choice. I had a 1BR for $625 and it worked great for me.
