I moved into via ventura few months ago but i felt like i made a mistake after i signed all the paperwork. My first day I noticed the roof leaking, then they offered to fix the leak, which led to an open hole in my bathroom..my 3rd day i came home and found monstrous size cockroaches floating around my bathroom and living room. I walked over to the mgmt office and when i complained that i was freaked out..i've never in my life lived anywhere that had bugs..she said i'm sorry but the maintainance guys are busy right now and they cant just drop everything to kill the bugs..i was like this is isane i just paid all this money to move here and i'm being greeted by bugs..anyhow they had a pest control company coming to spray..but the bugs didnt stop and the smell made me nauseated..i lived there for 2mths and slept in that place for 3 days..not worth it!!! i had to stay at a friend's house then i decided to get out of the lease which was a 1000$...i do not recommend this grey poupon apartment ...if u are new in town look around and do ur research and make sure to move into a smaller apt community these large communities look fancy but crap. good luck!

It's nice to know I am not alone here... I had a similar experience and found the office staff to be completely unhelpful. The apartment wasn't even prepared when we moved in and when we moved out because out upstairs neighbor flooded us, the office staff was not the least bit helpful, nor did they help us file a renter's insurance claim against our upstairs neighbor. And those cockroaches? The size of cats!

Doesn't Equity (the management company of these properties) give you 30 days to walk away if your apartment is unsatisfactory? I live here and my paper work says that you can walk away from the lease within 30 days and only have to pay for the time you lived there. Couldn't you exercise that option if all of your problems started on the first day? I don't understand why you were stuck paying to break the lease.
