For starters, I planned my move to Carmelita while cross country so I had never seen the apartment. I spoke with "the landlord" by phone to plan my move. She CONSTANTLY contradicted herself. My husband and I have pets, she said she would only charge us a deposit for 2 of them then changed her mind and picked a random number out of the sky. We signed our lease but didn t get a copy of it, BIG MISTAKE! Our apartment was DISGUSTING. It was filthy and had OBVIOUSLY not been cleaned prior to us moving in. There was a hole in one of the bedroom doors, stains on the 1980 s shag carpet, tons of nail & screw holes in the walls, the bedroom closet door was broken, both screen doors to the balcony were off their tracks the issues go on and on and on. The most pathetic thing about this apartment was that it was supposed to be a 2 bedroom but the wall to the second bedroom didn t meet the ceiling. We lived there a month and got the heck out of there. And as ridiculous as it is, we only received $100 back of all our deposit. And what s interesting are all these pleasant reviews for Carmelita. Hmm, makes me wonder. Believe me, you don t want to live here no matter how low your standards are.
