think hard before you move here.

When I moved into my apartment I was in love with it. Its large, the walls arent bright white (in my apartment they are painted dark beige) a lot of closet space, it had a new fridge and stove so I knew they wouldn't be too grimy and my apartment overlooks the pool. Also the staff SEEMED very friendly when we first moved in, I feel safe walking around the grounds, the landscaping and pools seem very well maintained, and theres a couple of basketball hoops and playgrounds. Then a few days after we moved in the air conditioner stopped working. That was a month ago and I have gone to the office to put in a maintenance request 4 times and it STILL hasnt been fixed. At this point I feel like it violates the landlord laws where it states that they have to provide running water, reasonable amounts of hot water, and heating and air-conditioning when required by the weather...it broke early september and now its mid october, so at least its cooling off a bit, but it still gets hot and I occasionally get concerned for my young child. Also the ceiling in my bedroom leaks. It looks like they did a patch job to try to get it to not drip anymore, but when it rains I end up with a puddle on my floor and ripply paint with pockets of water on the walls before I know it. When I went down to the office to put in a maintenance request, what did the lady say' "That will happen when it rains". WHAT'! The guy came by and I guess they fixed the roof, but we will see next time it rains. A couple of other things that bother me but arent major problems is that the cabinets are VERY old and dont all close and pieces chip off, the fan in the bathroom doenst really do much and doesnt stop the bathroom from getting muggy even when the people below us take a shower, and the lock on my front door is still broken even though they came and "fixed" it, it has no peephole, and not even a chain on it so although I feel safe walking on the grounds I feel unsafe if someone comes and knocks on my door because I have no idea who it is. So much so that I got a dog to make me feel more secure. Speaking of pets that is another positive point about the apartment. They allow dogs up to 40 lbs and the pet deposit and rent increase isnt too bad. I seem to see a lot of dogs and cats around so they seem very pet friendly. I guess to sum it all up, before you decide you would like to live here you need to decide if the pros outweigh the cons, look at other peoples reviews, and really think about if it would be the best for you.
