We lived here for just 6 months. The apartments were beautiful, but I have never lived in a worse area. Everyone I have known that stayed in these apartments has had their cars radio stolen. Ours was stolen within the first month we lived there so make sure that you always lock the doors and if you can get a security system for it (even if it isn't hooked up) just so they can see the blinking red light.
Also, one night we heard what sounded like someones windshield being smashed in outside of our window. My husband ran outside to see if our car was ok and someone had smashed out a light on the paved walkway. It took them over 24 hours to clean up the glass which was in huge chunks the size of a full size tissue box...
My husband and I caught someone scouting out a truck (I assume to steal the radio). he wasn't being very conspicuous about it either. He pretended to fix his hat while looking at his reflection in the truck. When he saw that we were paying close attention to him he pretended he was walking towards the dumpster. When he reached the dumpster he scaled the wall and jumped into the other apartment complex. We found who it belonged to to warn them. It was mid afternoon- not even close to dark outside.
Finally, we were told that we could take our liscence plate off our car and to leave it parked in the ASSIGNED parking spot so no one could steal it (since it had a fuel leak and we couldn't drive it). It sat there for at least a month and finally, 2 weeks after we gave our 30 day notice...They towed it. They said they couldn't figure out who the car belonged to...when we asked them to look up who the spot was assigned to...oh it was us. So much for trying to contact us.
When we confronted them they said we have to pay for it and that it was towed a week prior to us complaining (towed the 11th)(which was not at all true) we called them the day it was towed (17th) to find out what was going on. Our first instinct told us the car was stolen- we almost called the cops. They also said that the reason it was towed was that their boss came to visit and was upset by the way the place looked including our "abandoned" car and that is why they towed it. because they got in trouble.
The crime in that parking lot is worse than in the Vista and Casa de la Sierra apartments right next door because Montego Bay does nothing about it. I have never seen management so lazy in any apartment complex I've ever lived in.
